"We must assume every event has significance...the challenge is to find the silver lining in every event, no matter how negative."

The real challenge in my life, the real hardship is me. It’s always been me. As long as I can remember I’ve never not been afraid. Afraid of failure, of letting people down, hurting people, getting hurt. I thought if I kept my guard up and focused on other things, other people, if I couldn’t even feel it, well then no harm would come to me. I screwed up. When I shut out the pain, I shut out everything. The good and the bad. Until there was nothing. It’s fine to just live in the now, but the best part about ‘now’ is there’s another one tomorrow. And I’m gonna start making them count.

I like that quote Raz. I've never been able though to shut out the pain/restlessness. So I am bombarded with good and the bad. I like what he says about another now happening tomorrow. The eternal now. The everpresent now. He's pretty smart to know about living in the now. Eckhart Tolle would be proud, if he feels that.

bless me, ultima (2013)
"I made strength from everything that had happened to me, so that in the end even the final tragedy could not defeat me. And that is what Ultima tried to teach me, that the tragic consequences of life can be overcome by the magical strength that resides in the human heart."

Sometimes finding the silver lining right away is difficult, but much more possible later after you've had time to reflect on the event. My worst days I've still had love in them.

From Powder:
Lindsey: It's hard to believe that, all of that. Powder: It's because you have this spot that you can't see past. My grams and gramps had it, the spot where they were taught they were disconnected from everything. Lindsey: So that's what they'd see if they could? That they're connected? Powder: And how beautiful they really are. And that there's no need to hide, or lie. And that it's possible to talk to someone without any lies, with no sarcasms, no deceptions, no exaggerations or any of the things that people use to confuse the truth. Lindsey: I don't know a single person who does that.
this is from the 10th ep of breaking bad in season 3:
Walter White: Think of the odds. Once I tried to calculate them but they're astronomical. I mean think of the odds of me going in and sitting down that night, in that bar, next to that man...My God, the universe is random. It's not inevitable. It's simple chaos. It's subatomic particles in endless, aimless, collision. That's what science teaches us...but what does this say? What is it telling us that the very night that this man's daughter dies it's me who is having a drink with him? I mean, how could that be random?

These are my favorite lines from the series Once Upon a Time:
Jefferson: You know what the issue is with this world? Everyone wants a magical solution to their problem, and everyone refuses to believe in magic. Now, make a hat and get it to work. Emma Swan: I don't... Jefferson: You have magic. You can do it. Emma Swan: You've clearly glommed onto my kid Henry's thing. They're just stories! The Mad Hatter is in Alice in Wonderland, a book - a book I actually read. Jefferson: Stories. Stories! What's a story? When you were in high school, d'you learn about the Civil War? Emma Swan: Yeah, of course. Jefferson: How? D'you read about it, perchance, in a book? How's that any less real than any other book? Emma Swan: History books are based on history. Jefferson: And storybooks are based on what? Imagination. Where does that come from? It has to come from somewhere. Emma Swan: This is it. This is the real world. Jefferson: *A* real world. How arrogant are you to think yours is the only one? There are infinite more. You have to open your mind. They touch one another, pressing up in a long line of lands, each just as real as the last. All have their own rules. Some have magic, some don't. And some need magic. Like this one. And that's where you come in.

Ron Woodroof: These fuckers are coming at me, man, from all angles. I wanna file a restraining order. David Wayne: Against who? Ron Woodroof: Against the government and the fucking FDA - that's who.
Didn't read through the entire thread so I'm not sure if it's posted or not, but I came across this a while ago and figured it would be a fit here:
After Earth Wrote:Cypher Raige: Fear is not real. The only place that fear can exist is in our thoughts of the future. It is a product of our imagination, causing us to fear things that do not at present and may not ever exist. That is near insanity Kitai.

I went hunting for the "multitude of drops" line that I love from Cloud Atlas that is spoken when, towards the end, one of the characters turns his back on the pro-slavery order and becomes an abolitionist.
Found a number of beautiful lines from the book's author that makes me want to read the actual book: https://www.goodreads.com/work/quotes/18...loud-atlas At any rate, the movie line goes something like: “My life amounts to no more than one drop in a limitless ocean. Yet what is any ocean, but a multitude of drops?” Explanation by the tongue makes most things clear, but love unexplained is clearer. - Rumi

Professor X: "It's not their pain you're afraid of. It's yours, Charles. And as frightening as it can be, that pain will make you stronger. If you allow yourself to feel it, embrace it, it will make you more powerful than you ever imagined. It's the greatest gift we have: to bear their pain without breaking. And it comes from the most human part of us: hope. Charles, we need you to hope again."

From Enemy Mine:
Davidge: "If one receives evil from another, let one not do evil in return. Rather, let him extend love to the enemy, that love might unite them." I've heard all this before... in the human Taalmaan. Jerry: Of course you have. Truth is truth.

"Fire? I was born of this!" -Balthazar
That line from Constantine (2005) has been stuck in my head recently. I keep replacing the word 'fire' with other things & it amuses me. Psychological torture? I was born of this!

Don Collier: Good shot. Boyd 'Bible' Swan: Oh, it wasn't me. No, no, I'm the instrument, not the hand. God didn't call us today. You hear me, boys? Grady Travis: What's he doing up there? Big pair of dice? Everyone else came up snake eyes but us? John 2:15 got cited in the movie. I always kinda liked that verse. "Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world (the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life) is not of the Father but is of the world..." It makes me think of Ra's, "We are not those of the Love or of the Light. We are those who are of the Law of One."
