I was asked to post the Cube of Space as it may be of benefit to other people. When ever directions are used both in the Law of One or from the Bible I always refer to this Cube to determine what it could be inferring. I use 1) Hebrew letters first, or 2) any closely associated, corresponding positions to a direction. Then I apply a theory/understanding.

What is not on this image are the three mothers AIR, FIRE and WATER:

- Above to Below is ALEPH and is AIR
- North to South is SHIN and is FIRE
- East to West is MEM and is WATER

"The Keys" refer to the Tarot/Hebrew letters starting with "0" as ALEPH - The Fool, "1" as BETH - The Magician, etc.
This Cube is different if one was to compare to The Sepher Yetzirah. I use this one displayed.

In the northeastern United States, every 17 years, millions of cicadas emerge.

In the morning, as the cicadas rise, they begin singing, one by one. By the afternoon, the air is filled with the rhythmic, pulsing, hypnotic drone of a million cicadas singing in unison. It is a great power, an almost defiant cry that lets the world know that they are here and they will not be stopped.

When you’re near the sound, it almost envelops you completely. And if you listen for long enough, you can hear a sort of celebration. A celebration of the mystery of the One.

What drives a creature, living underground for 17 years, to emerge and face a hostile world, with no possibility of defense, and certain death guaranteed? Why go through all this struggle, pain, and sacrifice?

From a materialist viewpoint, the answer is obvious: To procreate. To dig deeper into this question brings forth another possibility, however. One directly tied to archetypal energies.

The cicada does not understand the concept of “procreate”. It understands very little of its own nature. Yet, from the moment it emerges from the darkness of the underground, the cicada is driven, unceasingly, towards a mystery that it cannot possibly fathom.

It faces insurmountable obstacles, a completely hostile world, and certain death in pursuit of this mystery. Why then does it emerge from its shell and fly out into the unknown world when it’s much safer to remain underground?

Because it understands that growth requires action and standing still is worse than the danger that lies in the unknown.

We understand more than the cicada. But, like the cicada, we must move forward towards a mystery that exceeds our understanding.

To not move forward towards Mystery is to go against Nature.

The cicada’s short time on this Earth appears to us like that of a fool. Likewise for us, our rise and fall, our journey from beginning to end is also the journey of a fool.

The final archetype to explore is known as The Fool or The Choice. According to Robert Wang in the book The Qabalistic Tarot,

“The FOOL is the androgenous energy which differentiates into the dramatis personae of the other twenty-one keys.”

In other words, the Fool is the beginning and end and is a part of each archetype. It is the heroic avenging fool who experiences a calling, moves into darkness and is ultimately resurrected, beginning the cycle anew.

This is the experience of what we call a “life” for entities in this density. The 360 degree rotation from ignorance, rejection and revelation, spiraling forward into the great unknown.

This archetypal structure can be seen at it’s very foundation as a “spiral” shape and it is interesting that our galaxy, or Logoi, just so happens to be a spiral formation.

Other galaxies, other Logoi, likely structure their archetypal foundation differently. And a clue as to what the experiences of entities in these galaxies could be may be found in how their galaxies are shaped.

The spiral shape may indicate the presence of dynamic tension in the archetypal configuration of a particular logoi. The ultimate goal of this dynamic tension is the creation of what Ra calls the “mind, body, spirit complex”.

Ra explains, “You may fruitfully view each Logos and its design as the Creator experiencing Itself. The seed concept of the significator being a complex introduces two things: firstly, the Creator against Creator in one sub-Logos in what you may call dynamic tension; secondly, the concept of free will, once having been made fuller by its extension into the sub-Logoi known as mind/body/spirit complexes, creates and re-creates and continues to create as a function of its very nature.”

Thus, this archetypal configuration naturally assumes a spiral shape because the spiral represents the process by which an entity can grow by the use of dynamic tension - that is, the tension between two opposing energies, creating a third overarching insight that propels movement forward.

Ra says, “The first Logos to instill what you now see as free will, in the full sense, in its sub-Logoi came to this creation due to contemplation in depth of the concepts or possibilities of conceptualizations of what we have called the significators. The Logos posited the possibility of the mind, the body, and the spirit as being complex.

In order for the significator to be what it is not, it then must be granted the free will of the Creator. This set in motion a quite lengthy, in your terms, series of Logoi improving or distilling this seed thought. The key was the significator becoming a complex.”

What does Ra mean when he speaks of being “complex”?

Ra mentions that “To be complex is to consist of more than one characteristic element or concept.”

Simply put, a self becomes complex by learning. As the self evolves, it is involved more and more in determining the lessons that it wishes to explore. These lessons, when absorbed, make the entity complex.

The concept which enables the ability of an entity to be complex is known as The Choice and is why the Fool is also called The Choice in the Law of One Material. Becoming “complex” can only be done by making a free will choice.

So the addition of the significator completes the spiral shape and leads to the concept of complexity.

In the mind, body, spirit cycles, the Choice is paired with the Significators. Recall that the Significators represent an overall summary of a cycle.

For the Mind, the Significator is the Hierophant and represents, as Crowley wrote, “one who manifests the mystery”.

It is the Higher Mind, that which understands and directs, manifesting the lessons the Lower Mind learns over lifetimes.

The Fool is a part of the Higher Mind which incarnates into physicality. Upon becoming aware of itself, the Fool moves into the Transformation of the Mind which represents the Choice among two paths. The honoring of Nature, the wellspring of the deep mind or the perversion of Her. The Choice to use the resources of the deep mind for service to others or service to self.

For the Body, the Significator is the Hangman and represents the “tuned instrument”, that is, the landscape of the Mind whose soil has been tilled and made fertile, creating a space for the seeds of potential to blossom into fruit. It is the sacrifice of the aims of the individual personality in order to be able to bear greater fruit by allowing the One Infinite to guide you.

The Fool who is “hanged” experiences “death”, the Transformation of the Body. It is not physical death, however, but rather, the “death of the lower will” or the “ego driven personality”.

It is the sacrifice of the aims of the lower for the aims of the Higher. The Choice to willingly be “hanged” and “die” can be seen as “foolish”.

And for the Spirit cycle, the Significator is The Sun, which represents the union of the male and female, the conscious and unconscious. The Choice to be in union results in the rebirth of the Fool.

When we look out into the vast expanse of space and observe other galaxies, there is always the thought about what the experience must be like for someone living in another galaxy.

Though it is impossible to truly understand what the archetypal experience is like in other galaxies, we can try to understand, on some level, what their experience must be like by looking at our own galaxy.

For example, in an elliptical shaped galaxy, the Logos takes on a circular shape.

This is suggestive of the archetypal journey without the key component of our logos which brings forth the “pressure” necessary to have a revelatory insight and thus move into The Choice. This insight is key to the spiral shape because without insight gained from experience, one cannot make a Choice. In a spiral, we see the concept of polarity - that is Positive and Negative paths and the dynamic tension that is necessary to obtain this polarity.

The experience in these logoi may be less “rich” with variety, however, it may also be more peaceful and stable. There would likely be less conflict and more of an awareness of one's Higher nature. Likely, entities in this galaxy do not have a veil between the conscious and unconscious and live in somewhat of an edenic state with no knowledge of “good” or “evil”.

Ra says,

“There were Logoi which chose to set the plan for the activation of mind/body/spirit complexes through each true-color body without recourse to the prior application of free will. It is, to our knowledge, only in an absence of free will that the conditions of which you speak obtain. In such a procession of densities you find an extraordinarily long, as you measure time, third density; likewise, fourth density. Then, as the entities begin to see the Creator, there is a very rapid, as you measure time, procession towards the eighth density. This is due to the fact that one who knows not, cares not.”

“Those Logoi whose creations have been set up without free will have not, in the feeling of those Logoi, given the Creator the quality and variety of experience of Itself as have those Logoi which have incorporated free will as paramount. Thusly you find those Logoi moving through the timeless states at what you would see as a later space/time to choose the free will character when elucidating the foundations of each Logos.”

Ra states further,

“Those, what you would call, early Logoi which chose lack-of-free-will foundations, to all extents with no exceptions, founded Logoi of the service-to-others path. The, shall we say, saga of polarity, its consequences and limits, were unimagined until experienced.”

It’s interesting that Ra mentions polarity as being a “saga” and that the “consequences and limits of polarity were unimagined until experienced”.

For us, in our particular logos, the saga we are immersed in involves “good” vs “evil”, or polarity.

This wasn’t always the case. And it won't be the case forever. Free will makes the experiment richer because the limits of free will are not known until experienced. Thus we have the great tug of war between the negative path and the positive path.

The Fool is the “axis upon which the creation turns” as Ra says. It is the wanderer, the voyager who enters darkness and ultimately comes out the otherside with a new perspective, only to begin the journey again, spiraling forward towards infinity.

Collectively, humanity turns the “axis of creation''. Our collective choices influence the direction of time.

This great tug of war, depicted in the Hindu myth of Amritamanthana, is made through you, the Fool.

To make a choice, every moment, to follow the higher or to follow the lower, influences ultimately time itself. You are the World Axis upon which the creation turns.

Choose wisely.

I can say, maybe, since words will likely allude me, what I think an adept is.

Of course, there is the human-society definition of adept, and that would be someone who has achieved a degree of excellence or skill in a field. I am an adept illustrator for example. But even this somewhat simple definition I think carries biases, which are indicated in the Significator of the Mind, in which the cartouches displayed are showing that tendencies or biases from past experience (past lives, or genetic access) are carried forth—in my case, artistic ability.

In the "spiritual sense,' the adept is an individual who has honed in on the aspects of self and consensus and beyond-consensus reality that are direct and efficacious in navigating this density. The adept also discards that which is not useful to its path. An example of which would be to not expend energy on being offended, or self-pity; but rather to realize that everything is catalyst and to simply deal with it and let it go. It could be said that the word, proactive, is an attribute of an adept.

This requires honesty/lucidity about self and honesty/lucidity about the environment in which self acts and is acted upon. This will eventually bring the entity to a kind of detachment that seems in conflict with compassion (if the path is STO). But that is illusory, as those two attributes can coexist.

Quote:80.11 ▶ Questioner: Could I say, then, that implicit in the process of becoming adept is the possible partial polarization towards service to self because simply the adept becomes disassociated with many of his kind or like in the particular density which he inhabits?
Ra: I am Ra. This is likely to occur. The apparent happening is disassociation whether the truth is service to self and thus true disassociation from other-selves or service to others and thus true association with the heart of all other-selves and disassociation only from the illusory husks which prevent the adept from correctly perceiving the self and other-self as one.

Quote:80.10 ▶
...
It is also to be noted that an adept is one which has freed itself more and more from the constraints of the thoughts, opinions, and bonds of other-selves. Whether this is done for service to others or service to self, it is a necessary part of the awakening of the adept. This freedom is seen by those not free as what you would call evil or black. The magic is recognized; the nature is often not.

Quote:80.12 ▶ Questioner: Then you say that this effect of disassociation on the service-to-others adept is a stumbling block or slowing process in reaching that goal which he aspires to? Is this correct?

Ra: I am Ra. This is incorrect. This disassociation from the miasma of illusion and misrepresentation of each and every distortion is a quite necessary portion of an adept’s path. It may be seen by others to be unfortunate.

I've performed an experiment by dowsing the 22 Archetype images. I've started from the assumption that because the archetypes are so fundamental for this Logos it might have a detectable polarity consistent with the one proposed by Ra. I've used a real set of Tarot images from the Brotherhood of Light and the images printed as part of the Ra Material.

The result of the experiment was consistent for both sets of Tarot Images. I have used clockwise sense for positive or Male polarity and counter-clockwise for negative or Female polarity.

The results were more or less as expected:

No Mind Body Spirit
1 CW CCW CW
2 CCW CW CCW
3 CCW CW CCW
4 CW CCW CW
5 CW CW CW
6 CCW CCW CCW
7 CW CW CW

Archetype 22 - CCW

From the experiment it resulted that all pairs proposed by Ra for study have M/F structure.

The three Significators were all Positive while The Fool was Negative.
Ra already mentioned the anomaly of Matrix/Potentiator of the body which had the polarity inverted by the Logos for the purpose of creating the veil.

In the results of my experiment there is though another anomaly for Catalyst/Experience of the Body which seem to also have the male/female polarity inverted.
I know this is irrelevant but it seems that while the catalyst of the mind and spirit happen at the level of unconscious mind the catalyst of the body belongs to conscious mind.

Here we have the archetype of the Fool, who, at its core, is about a journey - a journey into the unknown, where danger lurks in deep recesses which we cannot yet see.

I have posted both the Egyptian images of the card as well as the Rider-Waite version of the card. I think of the Rider-Waite deck as the anglo version of symbolic archetypes - I still prefer the Egyptian imagery, but I think the "leap of faith" symbology is very ingrained in our culture. We also have the negative version of the trope - if all of your friends jumped off a cliff, would you follow? This is usually used as a rhetorical question and the answer is often an unspoken yes.

In Egyptian culture, the leap of faith is represented by their much more harsh concept of harvest. Whereas Ra says that one "walks the steps of light" until they can no more upon death, the Egyptians' myth involves Maat, a winged goddess, and Ammit, a goddess with the head of a crocodile and the body of a hippopotamus. Upon crossing over, you are greeted by Maat, who weighs your heart against one of her feathers. If your heart tips the scales (i.e. is too heavy with 'evil') then your heart is fed to Ammit, and you are committed to incarnating again for new lessons and trials. The heart was the only organ left in the body of those who were mummified, for this purpose. The imagery of scales, and the winged goddess, is repeated in the Matrix of the Body.

Faith is this really important concept that is represented in this card. Faith is why we incarnate behind the veil. The power of Faith is what makes the Fool a unifying archetype. Making a Choice based on Faith, taking a leap, walking into the jaws of the crocodile to let our whole beings be weighed for the contents of our hearts - this is the journey into third density.

Every Fool, every incarnate third density entity, is at risk of the crocodile. Confusion is intentionally built into the system, so the risk of losing one's way is extremely real, even for a Wanderer from 6th density. As we see by the image of the moon eclipsing the sun, as we walk towards the crocodile, the eclipse increases its totality. We wander as Fools purely for the experience of darkness, disconnection - "that which is not".

So what do we risk entering third density? Be it from second or fourth and above, we risk, nay, go fully headfirst into the forgetting - the forgetting of our connection to the source, the unity and oneness of the dance of infinite creation. In third density, we become separate, vulnerable beings. We become fearful, terrified fools, because we have no idea that we are cooperative participants in this dance, instead of being tossed about like a ragdoll. Through our journey into third density and our experience of the archetypical energies of potentiation, catalyst, experience, and transformation, we can pierce this heavy, heavy veil and have moments where we are again profoundly connected to our source-beingness, our Higher selves, our true purposes within this incarnation - the Great Way.

There is a macrocosmic reason why the Fool is archetype 0 and 22, and a microcosmic reason. In the macrocosm, one is a Fool upon the dropping of the veil and the beginning of third density catalysts. As soon as you begin to make decisions without the knowledge of unity of the creator that is afforded to each other density, it requires a belief in the rightness and goodness of what you are doing, even when reality knocks you back down. Zero begins the initial journey into third density.

The majority of Wanderers are 4th and 6th density. They represent the 22, completion choice of the Fool. It is not necessary to become veiled again to progress towards unity with the Creator after one is harvested, however, there is great reward for the risk of becoming incarnated with the veil. This is the Foolishness at the end of the cycle that begins the cycle again - full knowledge and embrace of the leap into danger. And then upon the entering of the incarnation, the veil falls and everything is forgotten. This is the Fool in the microcosm. Each of us, at the beginning of our incarnation, is a Fool. Sure, some dual-activated entities who are incarnate now have greater access to their subconscious abilities, but Wanderers from 5th and 6th density take on the same limitations as those who have not yet achieved harvest from third density. As they begin to work in consciousness and pierce the veil, the Choice gradually becomes more conscious, and with each conscious leap will fulfill the end of the cycle returning to the beginning.

So what happens between 0 and 22? The Significators are used to delineate the extremes from which we can depart from the simple Fool. The two meager carry-on bags become the costume and stage of the Significator of the Mind, and then in the Body we experience the other extreme - asceticism, solitude, the removal of all external connections to the third density creation except a rope tying one's foot to the gallows. In the Significator of the Spirit, we have the unification of the left-facing Hierophant and the right-facing Hanged Man, the merging of the will and subconscious and the ability to work with integrated balance in the framework of the illusion. So, if we are meant to look at them in pairs and as reflections of each other, I see the Significators as the other end of the spectrum of the naive Fool in each of the cycles. They have harvested the power of the veil to do work within third density reality.

At position 0, the slung bags represent that which was harvested from the previous density - the things from second density that we carry to help us reach our spiritual growth. Our sense of community, competition, the desire for growth, love of family - a simple set of tools to help us achieve a greater spiritual awareness. Through experience it balloons into the grand set of accoutrements of the Hierophant, and through the Transformation of the Mind we release those principles which no longer serve our divinity and begin to refine what we carry in the bags. At position 22, the bags contain that which we have gained from piercing the veil - a sense of unity, awareness of love for all, true unconditional compassion - and maybe other personality traits that we hone through our incarnations, like love of healing, love of teaching, love of speaking, that we can use as tools as we wander, if we can find them in our bags!

Ra says there are many hints in the Tarot as to the bias of the Logos (STO), and in this card I think it is represented by the elevation of the path on the right hand side. As one heads left, they descend, and as one heads right, they ascend. The bag of "belongings", slung over the left shoulder and gripped with the left hand, carrying those items that we think we need, also echoes this elevation. When we think of the tipping scales (the feather vs. the heavy heart) this imagery echoes further.

There is also a face of life, light, and recognition within the sun as the positive path, and the jet black moon eclipses it and absorbs its light. However, the sun is on the left side of the moon, which leads me to believe it is an echo of the Hierophant in that sense - that in third density, the light serves the dark and the dark serves the light. They are intertwined and require each other to grow in experience.

The imagery of the staff in the right hand and the water at the left very much echoes the Catalyst of the Spirit - where creative faith is represented by the watering of the flower into a lifegiving being of its own. While I suspect at its heart that the staff is a symbol of astrological origin, I think it can be said to be a symbol of will and faith being divined through the right hand path - juxtaposed with the gifts of "personality" given to us through the baggage on the left shoulder.

The other part of the Fool's 'ensemble' is his cloaking of animal skins. To me this symbolizes the simplicity of the Fool (again, juxtaposed with the Hierophant's elaborate costuming) and also a reminder of the dust from which we came - first, then second density. This body of the Fool that we inherit is a creature of second density that has been bestowed the awareness of third density. The body cycle is all about understanding the creation of second density so that we are more in harmony with it, so that as conscious third density entities we can work to integrate the will of the creator (love and oneness) more thoroughly within the confines of physical creation. We are not just clothed in the ideas of animalhood, this is where we came from, and indeed what we are, and the thick hides of protection are something that was lost when the veil fell over the body and made us these weakened creatures who must seek shelter and clothing.

And what about for the Fool who travels the negative path? The veil, which makes us foolish, is the removal of our connection to the One Infinite Creator. Sometimes one takes a leap of faith that says that the Creator is glorified by murder, or the hoarding of capital in the face of the hungry. And while this may not be a true representation of the Creator, in an infinite Creation, "that which is not" must also be experienced, understood, accepted, and loved as a part of the Creation too. And the negative adept puts faith into "that which is not" - the separation of itself from the rest of creation. It intensifies this separation until it can no more (6th density.) As we make a choice, every choice, based either on what is or what is not, we are helping the Creator to become more. Because until experiences are created and watched by a Watcher, infinity has yet to achieve its potential. As travelers of the positive path, our purpose is to learn to love that which is separated, to help return it to the loved oneness of the Creator. In this way, we are very powerful agents of transformation.

I believe that the crocodiles at the feet of the Fool might be analogous to the barking dog at the heels of the Fool in the Rider-Waite deck. Crocodiles were the top of the food chain in Egypt, but the crocodile god, Sobek, was considered a protector of Egpyt because of the ferocity and protectiveness of crocodiles. The mirrored image makes me believe that both paths are supported and protected by the Creator. The image between the two crocodiles, to the best of my discernment, appears to be a mask, and of a monkey. The monkey/baboon was associated with Thoth. Simians have also given us the body that we now inhabit. Masks were associated with divinity and the afterlife. The crocodiles could also be there to devour whatever else the Fool carries with him that is unnecessary - representing the transformations, and the athanor of third density.

The Fool archetype also helps explain why, "one must recognize that it doesn't understand to be harvested". If you think you know everything, there is no leap of faith to be made. It is the act of the leap that matters in the totality of our being.

Which leads us to the column. If we look at the imagery of the column and where it is reflected in the other archetypes, those beings primarily of the mind cycle - the Priestess, the Hierophant, and the Chariot, as well as the Hanged Man. We also see a crumbling tower in the Potentiator of the Spirit, which symbolizes the disintegration of the limitations of the veiled mind complex. In the microcosm, this represents our belief systems we carry and release throughout our incarnation. In the macrocosm, this is allowing the infinite creation to expand to even greater reaches by disintegrating the walls of its current perceive 'limits'. This to me also implies that the 'danger' inherent in the card should be recognized more as a mental danger and not a physical danger.

The Big Choice is the Path, Service to Others, or Service to Self. But that path, while incarnate in a third density mind/body/spirit complex, involves so many smaller and more nuanced choices for one to explore what these two options really mean. Do I take this job or that? How do I teach my child? What do I have for breakfast? The little choices, especially if made with awareness, allow us to pierce the veil, to see through the matrix of society and learn that what we have been taught in total darkness is not that which is. The choice is the "axis upon which creation turns". All choices create more events and populate more possibility/probability vortices. And how these choices affect our service. Are my choices radiating love, or am I absorbing love? Are my choices allowing love to flourish, or decreasing its opportunity to grow? How can I do better next time - better refine the baggage that I carry with me? What can I offer to the crocodile that will sate him from eating my heart?

I wonder if the shapes of galaxies and the orbits of the planets in different star systems might give some clues as to the nature of evolution in that different logoi. For instance, our galaxy is thought to be a spiral shape. And the archetypal blueprint for evolution planned by our Logos follows a spiral pattern.
You can see a sample of a few of the different types of shapes that galaxies can form.
I believe the archetypal blueprint delivered from the Logos does indeed show up as clues in physical, 3D reality. In our own reality, you see the evidence of the spiral in lots of different places. In fact, if you're open to it, you can probably see it everywhere.

Hello! Ive been away for some time but I have been very busy with my spiritual study and practice. I decided to take a more serious step in my study of the Tarot keys because I feel that these cards are a key to unlocking our true potential and power. The more I study the Tarot the more it reveals itself to me in what it can do.

The Tarot Keys were designed with the intent to invoke states of consciousness. Principally, the modern Tarot cards. These go as far back as the 1200s. There is no evidence or proof or anything beyond this time. I’m not saying these cards weren’t known to initiates back then but that is when the Tarot deck made its appearance.

Adepts were supposed to have designed the Keys. Either way, the Keys invoke states of consciousness especially when one is meditating on that Key or observing it for long periods of time.

For example, the Magician. The Magician, by the design of the image, shows us a man in concentration. The expression on his face indicates confidence and assurance; he knows what he is doing. The position of his arms show us another thing: that he draws his power from above and acts as a channel to transmit that force. “As Above, So Below” is what his body language tells us.

The roses indicate desire and the lillies indicate Truth. The elemental weapons upon the table are symbolic of elements of the personality (and one can work this out himself knowing the elements to be: Fire, Water, Air, and Earth) while the table symbolizes the magicians field of attention.

Now what does this Key practically show us? It shows us that a one-pointed concentration is necessary to act as a purified channel for cosmic forces. Furthermore, the Magician teaches us the art of concentration. Simply observe the Key to learn how to concentrate. If you need to focus, call up the image of Magician, limit your field of attention, and with calm assurance know that your going to be focused on what is before you.

Traditionally, Mercury is the ruler of Key 1 and this completely fits with the symbolism. Mercury is the self-conscious mind : the man is the masculine portion of mind. By acts of self-conscious attention does the Magician make fertile the garden of roses and lillies. The garden is the subconscious mind and this symbolism is further explained in later Tarot cards.

Anyway I just wanted to share some of what I have been learning. I try to remember Ra’s words of learn/teachings and teach/learning. I want to teach only when I have an understanding of my own that I can articulate in my own words. Parroting what others have wrote or said is not true teaching/learning.

This is just one example of what the Tarot cards can teach us! Each one of the Tarot Keys will aid us on our journey of self-knowledge.

I inquired about this in another thread but wanted to start a discussion in a more appropriate section of the forum (and not in someone elses thread!)

Quote:79.31 Questioner: Then at this point, would the Choice exist at this point, the creation of the first service-to-self polarity? Is there a choice at that point or is it a non-choice?

Ra: I am Ra. Implicit in the veiling or separation of two archetypes is the concept of choice. The refinements to this concept took many experiences.

I am a new student of Tarot and so my knowledge is quite limited. I am just going to express my understanding.

So, the Veil (or separation) exists between any two archetypes, and implicit in that veiling is the concept of choice. The choice to "uncover" what is behind the veil, so to speak. Is that about right?

With that being said, I am only aware that the Veil exists between the Matrices and Potentiators.

My inquiry however is this: Does the Veil only exists between each sequential archetypes of either the Mind/Body/Spirit(- symbolizing the veil) Matrix-Potentiator-Catalyst-Experience-Significator-Transformation-Great Way? Or perhaps between Matrix of Mind-Matrix of Body?

Intuitively, it seems that any combination could potentially have the Veil between each of them. I still want to get a discussion going on it though.... interesting stuff!
I looked up "butterfly" in the LOO website and that term wasn't significant. What does it signify?
Can someone help me with this card? What are your thoughts on it? I'm not sure I even understand enough to ask questions, honestly.

I don’t really know where to put this thread. I’m comparing a meditation from the Qabalah to the understanding of the Significator of Mind (the Hierophant) from the Ra Material. I had just thought that it sounded very much like the Significant Self. Does anyone notice the similarities? I mean there should be common threads with the various traditions of Tarot since the Tarot are 22 archetypal images; archetypes which are in the deep mind of all planet earth.

The meditation is excellent. I feel a great feeling of gratitude after reading these; that I am blessed to be reading these words. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do. This meditation is from Paul Foster Case’s the Book of Tokens. Every time I read a meditation from that book I am able to understand it a little more than the last time. Highly worthy meditations for contemplation!

Vav is the Hebrew letter attributed to Arcanum 5, the Hierophant. Vav signifies “a nail.” It’s number is 6, and it’s correspondence is to Taurus.

Quote:THE MEDITATION ON VAV

AS that which uniteth all things
In the world of the manifest,
I am rightly made known by VAV, the Nail.
Because I am all, and in all,
Therefore am I the link or bond
Which joineth together
The parts of the fabric of existence.

In all the universe there is no break.
By bonds indissoluble
Each point is fastened to every other.

Behind the separate existences
Is the unity of my being,
Which is as a net,
Gathering together all these many forms.
Nothing existeth alone;
All things are in combination.

Manifestation requireth
The appearance of separate parts. When I show forth my power,
What I bring into existence
Must seem other than myself;
And because I am wholly free,
I present myself to myself
In an endless variety of forms.
Yet is the seeming isolation of class and kind,
The separateness of creatures,
Naught but illusion which deludeth me not,
Nor are they by it deceived
In whom my Wisdom has ripened.

Unfathomed and unfathomable
Is the Great Deep
Of mine interior nature.
In the unplumbed abyss of the No-Thing
Mine Eternal Will ariseth,
And by the rising of that Will
The No-Thing cometh forth
Into the appearance of Something.

That Will is the Small Point of all beginning,
And its coming forth is a search for itself.
For that Will is a hunger, And a desire,
And a longing.

My nature being changeless,
This eager longing altereth not.
It is a thing concluded before all manifestation,
A purpose unalterably decided upon,
A determination which I confirm by mine experience.
Out of that longing
Cometh the fixing of the boundaries
Of the universe.
By it I draw the circle of the Something
Which emergeth from the illimitable Deep of the No-Thing.
Therefore is this longing the root of GEBURAH, Severity,
For it restricteth the liberty of the No-Thing,
And produceth an appearance of limitation and
separateness therein.

5 The Nail is a perfect symbol of this Severity.
It hath a property of sharpness and stringency,
Like the point of a nail;
And again, as a nail fasteneth together
The parts of a house,
So doth the desire of coming forth
Join together the parts of the universe,
My dwelling-place.

6 These are mysteries, O Israel,
Difficult to understand.
With much searching shalt thou still fail
To grasp them,
Unless thy search be rightly prosecuted.
Yet the Way to Understanding is ever open
To him who will follow it steadfastly.
It is the Way of the Heart,
And thou shalt be guided therein
By thine own inner Hearing.

Even this aspect of my nature
Which presenteth itself under the signature of the letter VAV
Is a promise and a fulfillment of the Way of Life.
Manifesting myself as the link
Which uniteth all the separate parts of my creation,
I make myself known as the bond of union
Between creature and creature,
And between the creatures and their Creator.

The Creator is myself,
And I am the Nail which joineth thee to me.
In thee am I ever present,
And thou hast only to turn within to find me.

Shut thine ears
To the confusion of the world which surroundeth thee.
Open thine inner hearing.
Aspire earnestly to me.
Verily thine aspiration is from me,
And what sendeth thee in search of me
Is that same eager longing which hath brought thee forth;
And it hath brought forth, too,
The four worlds and all that they contain.

Thy search for me
Is mine own search for myself,
Nor shall that quest of mine,
Which seemeth now to thee to be
Thine own pursuit of wisdom and of understanding,
Be doomed to failure.
Whosoever thou art that readest or hearest these words,
Know that thou shalt come to me.

9 I am the revealer of all mysteries.
None other is the Teacher of any man.
These words that thou readest,
Or that, perchance, are read to thee —— Whose words are they but mine?
I have brought thee before me for instruction,
And whether thou receivest it willingly or unwillingly,
Know that because thou hast this day heard or read these words,
Thou art henceforth consciously united to me.

Today thou mayest reject me.
Today thou mayest receive these words with scorn.
Yet it shall be that my Voice
Shall go with thee henceforth forever.
When thou sleepest it shall instruct thee,
And even when thou art busiest with the affairs of daily life, It shall ring suddenly in thine inner ear.

10 Forever art thou bound to me,
And in a day,
Or a month,
Or a year,
Or a lifetime,
Or a hundred lifetimes,
Thou shalt know this, even as I know it;

And when thou hast reached this goal,
What shall be a day,
Or a month,
Or a year,
Or a lifetime,
Or a hundred lifetimes?
Time ceaseth for those who come to me.
The quest will be forgotten
When thou hast reached the Goal.

Nothing existeth alone;
All things are in combination.

Manifestation requireth
The appearance of separate parts. When I show forth my power,
What I bring into existence
Must seem other than myself;
And because I am wholly free,
I present myself to myself
In an endless variety of forms.
Yet is the seeming isolation of class and kind,
The separateness of creatures,
Naught but illusion which deludeth me not,
Nor are they by it deceived
In whom my Wisdom has ripened.

Unfathomed and unfathomable
Is the Great Deep
Of mine interior nature.
In the unplumbed abyss of the No-Thing
Mine Eternal Will ariseth,
And by the rising of that Will
The No-Thing cometh forth
Into the appearance of Something.

That Will is the Small Point of all beginning,
And its coming forth is a search for itself.
For that Will is a hunger, And a desire,
And a longing.

My nature being changeless,
This eager longing altereth not.
It is a thing concluded before all manifestation,
A purpose unalterably decided upon,
A determination which I confirm by mine experience.
Out of that longing
Cometh the fixing of the boundaries
Of the universe.
By it I draw the circle of the Something
Which emergeth from the illimitable Deep of the No-Thing.
Therefore is this longing the root of GEBURAH, Severity,
For it restricteth the liberty of the No-Thing,
And produceth an appearance of limitation and
separateness therein.

5 The Nail is a perfect symbol of this Severity.
It hath a property of sharpness and stringency,
Like the point of a nail;
And again, as a nail fasteneth together
The parts of a house,
So doth the desire of coming forth
Join together the parts of the universe,
My dwelling-place.

6 These are mysteries, O Israel,

I have begun the second portion of the archetypal study where we contemplate and meditate upon pairs of archetypes; their natural compliments.

The first pairing is Matrix and Potentiator of Mind. Male and female. Creative, receptive. Without and within; inner and outer.

An interesting symbol that I noticed with this method is that in the card of the Magician there is a caged bird. The bird is caged within a square/cube, which represents the material illusion. This concept means that the magician is as a caged bird, unable to take flight, without the “activator in Potentiation”. Left by itself, the magician cannot move. It can be said that the magician is working within the material illusion, on space/time.

The High Priestess has a similar concept in her card: she sits upon a rectangular, square block/cube. She is outside of the material illusion (but near at hand, as Ra put it.) The Priestess is similarly blocked in that left by herself she is left waiting, abiding; Veiled and unknown. She is richly fertile (the grapes on her covering) but none of that can bloom, per se, when the creative energy is not seeding (reaching for) the deep mind. Reaching for understanding. She can be said to represent time/space.

Another interesting set of symbols I noticed was that they both work with the “tools of their trade”. This is represented by the four elemental weapons upon the magicians altar. The High Priestess holds a scroll on her lap. It is a scroll of knowledge and understanding. Both of these “sets of tools” enrich one another! Understanding enriched the conscious mind and discipline opens the deep unconscious mind. There is an equal give and take. They beautifully flow into one another. In fact I would say that the picture is incomplete without the interplay of the Magician and Priestess.

An important consideration: who is it that is “reaching”? The Matrix and Potentiator represent aspects, pure archetypes of Mind. It is the Significator who wills the reaching which sets the processes of mind in motion. He is truly the actor and acted upon. It’s also interesting to note that the Significator has for its pair the Choice! I shall get to that pairing in due time.

I want to continuing sharing some of my insights on this thread as I continue on with the study of pairs. I invite all of you to join me in this journey! Feel free to share your observations, contemplations, insights, and understandings so that we may all gain a deeper understanding of the archetypal mind.
