Apparently its not even considered secret or a big deal, but rather standard practice.
I've heard from knowledgeable sources that here in Canada the Conservative Party gets their young staff to post alot of comments on news website articles. Presumably the other parties here and in other countries do that too. But news websites are different from forums, especially the type of forums which the Cryptome article probably has in mind (e.g. us, conspiracy theory forums, Edgar Cayce related stuff, etc.). I think that the only people who would want to purposely poison the well, derail, distract, etc. on these kinds of forums would be people in secret societies fighting for control of everything because they're probably afraid of anything close to the truth getting out, even if its to a small group of people.
Other than the occasional troll or closed minded preacher I don't think there's anyone malicious on this forum, for now. If LOO gets popular enough this forum might become a target and we and the moderators should be prepared for it, it would be a shame to have such a great forum corrupted.
There have been quite a few occasions on this Forum where attempts have been made to prevent certain Information from reaching a wider audience. This however I do not see as being malicious in any way. It's a Service provided, nothing more. You are right in that often these folks are members of secret societies.
The warning system contains key words that trigger the alarm.
There are procedures that are to be followed - if you find someone concentrating on grammar etc then you can be sure that they are really struggling to debunk - that has been my experience.
Accounts are set up in advance in order to be used in this fashion - often one user will control several accounts behind proxies using his/her alters.
After some experience you can tell almost straight away who is doing what and with what Agenda.
Again, there is nothing 'wrong' with this because it requires us to become certain of our presumed Facts. By seeding doubt in the mind one is challenged to look with even more care at ones own beliefs.
