this is a fascinating point Eternal.
use for initiation, then discard.

I remember when I used to listen to tons of 'psychedelic podcasts' a few years back. The speakers has so much enthusiasm, had seen so much, were 'awakened'.
and yet, after some time, they started to seem 'deluded'.
Totally agree with this. I used ayahuasca for an initial awakening, and release from the central viewpoint of 'me' to 'the other' ... this for a total of three times over a couple of years.
Later I discovered Tom Campbell, and the Binaural beats/ Hemi Sync/ Bob Monroe information. All about getting out of body WITHOUT any plants, chemicals, etc. Using more of a meditation, a deep meditation, using audio, to go into altered states.
Tom Campbell makes the point in one of his lectures at Calgary (all on Youtube) - that using entheogens to get a taste for 'the other' is good, but entheogens don't allow you to control the experience, it's very much a roller coaster ride. But controlled meditative/ out of body (OOB) via binaural beats is very much more helpful and constructive. Your intent is very much in the drivers seat and as such the higher self is more present. Don't be surprised to feel intuition and suchlike much increased.
So after 4 years, of a spiritual journey, I say yes to entheogens/ ayahuasca/ other plants, to awaken and 'open the door', but no to continued use.
Aren't we here on Earth now to focus on this existence and learn here, not to be 'off world' all the time :-)
