If we are solid light, does that mean certain gurus become light when they transfer into their rainbow body? Some have been known to dissipate in a flash of light, or so it goes. Is it like light into matter, but in reverse?

I do not know what a 'rainbow body' is. Thus, am not able to comment on that.
However, with respect to the last two questions, probably, the following from the LOO can shed light --

However, it is well to point out that the Logos has the plan of all the densities of the octave in potential completion before entering the space/time continuum in first density. Thus the energy centers exist before they are manifest.
