Not much, because everything else (toilet paper, soap, you name it) costs so much nowadays.  We are experiencing runaway inflation because of actions of the Federal Reserve.

I hope all of you are not getting tired of these pictures....to my eye, our tomatoes are so photogenic, that I find it hard to resist the urge to post pictures.  Today's pizza (the tomato varieties are Persimmon and Terra Cotta):

Do you juice vegetables? We make kale juice 3 times per week. With a garden it would probably be more often.

No, we can't keep up with the stuff as it is.  We've been cutting up peaches to freeze this evening, and still have more to go.  We've probably lost half our peaches this season due to inefficiency (they go from "ripe" to "rotten" very quickly).

I do puree peaches for smoothies though.  Those are really delicious....peaches, a banana, some limeade or lime juice, and Greek yogurt.

Aww I wish you could beam some my way! I love home grown peaches Smile
I have one tomato plant on my balcony and so far the harvest has been quite impressive... every day I take off 5-8 of the little red darlings (they are mini tomatos, but very delicious)
My pepper plant has apparently gone on strike though... I only got two green peppers and now he does not seem to want to produce anymore... Sad
maybe he does not get along with his lavender and mint neighbors? THey are indeed a bit intrusive , spreading their offspring lavishly in the surrounding areas

Checking out this site and now I am hungry! Beautiful pictures. Margan has mentioned about contact of a virus, etc. All is alive even that we think is only stuff and has its purpose to teach us. This would also includes the disease and insect that's attack your plants. Last year a swarm of an insect I have never seen before, came in and were eating every flower for fruits, apples and berries. It was going to be devastation with no fruit that year. I mediated on the swarm in love, it has a right to be there, I went out to where the swarm was and went into its centre on my apple tree. Looked at them and they seem to look back. Told them that I was willing to share with them and if they would leave us some. A day later they were gone and we had enough fruit for that year.

I think gardening can save the world. If we restored healthy soil by switching to regenerative agriculture and organic home gardening, all the life that would grow from it around the world would offset virtually all greenhouse gases and solve climate change. It would also allow us to be independent and community supported, releasing us from the control of the Big this Big that network which is trying to take over the world.

THIS ^^^ This is how we change the world. We need to change our relationship with our food on a global scale.

I'm doing what I can on my end.  I raised dent corn this year, instead of sweet corn, as an experiment.  We raised a local heirloom variety called Kentucky Butcher, because of its dark red color.

We searched for someone who could grind it for us, to no avail (it's amazing that there are no small millers anymore.....that in itself is worrying); but someone told us that we could grind it in a Vita-Mix, so we bought one.  It works!  So now, we can produce our own corn meal, in addition to vegetables.

In addition, when one gardens, or takes care of any living thing, one is (typically) loving that thing. So the food is grown with the energy of appreciation and love. This is a benefit not gotten from grocery store food.

We don't "farm", in the strict sense, I'm just a home gardener.  I have three garden plots of about 1000 square feet each, and a few fruit trees.  If you look back through previous posts, you can see various photos of our yard.

Winter refuses to release its grip here; I'm late getting my garden in, through no fault of my own.  But we have food stored from last year's garden.

Tonight my wife made this for dinner:  A butternut-squash, sweet-potato, and red-onion-tart with almond-meal crust.

It amazes me that there isn't more activity on this thread, especially now, that inflation has driven grocery prices so high.

Our neighbors on both sides raise chickens, and give us eggs. A week ago we had 7 dozen eggs in our refrigerators.....

That's hard work. I always find garden-tending to be meditative, and I feel at One more. You? I also meet some tiny critters I wouldn't ordinarily see. Tried to attach photos but it wants a URL, so ???
