The reason for the discrepancy is due to the various sources simply gauging one probable reality. From my own research many seem to be alluding to a potential 3 way dominant timeline split consisting of 3D, 4D & 5D simultaneously, which would account for the surface conflicts where the transition is concerned. Bashar dubs this as the 'splitting of the prism' where crossing the 'barrier' would take dominant frequencies and literally form them into simultaneous parallel realities consisting of the various densities. I assume 3D will be shortlived however with 4D & 5D (The latter being a non physical orientation in a nested fashion) eventually coexisting in the years to come. The one you experience will of course be your dominant. 2012 will thus be quite literally what you make of it.
That being said, there is also the possibility of different terminology as Monica mentioned above, where 5D is in reference to a shift from the current classical understanding of 3 spatial dimensions and the 4th time ('4D').

I will be courageous and reply to your desire to know more about this. Higher dimensional service to self is intense focus in Self, which is akin to a black hole of spiralating consciousness. Higher dimensional service to others is radiating pulsating consciousness that heals whatever lies in immediate surroundings. This is mostly 5D. 4D is a societal structure of souls progressing in this consciousness direction. By 6D they merge together.
Back to main topic: It is difficult for most of us (myself included) to go through in this harvest on Earth. The feeling of "difficult". Why so?
To give you a description... Everytime I meditate I feel easily outwards radiating my love and light. It seems easy and intense. But whenever I am back to daily Earthly life I caught again back in the world of egos, struggles and hopes, needs and inspirations, fears and dreams, attachments and liberations. Its like that, because the planetary aura is like this. This deep cut duality is hard to an harvest!
Often I wish everything would be as easy as I often feel during a meditation...
I dont know exactly how to progress. My idea towards STO is not clear. I have a strong pull inside me, to start a community way of living that has sharing and love as its foundations. But how does this start? Its a long wait so far...

i'm going upstairs and sometimes my steps make me skip entire densities.
i think people have been limited by the 3 physical dimensions and the 4th dimension of time
nothing to do with the energetic densities, the forms of matter.. this is different man!

Just for clarification: Heaven is time/space.
All densities are in space/time. 4d positive is not heaven, it is earth with Christ consciousness.
