A lot of taste has more to do with the spices you use also.

I'm nothing vegan, but it's been a long time I've bought any meat or dairy for what I cook and only have it when I eat outside. I plan to get a big spice set to vary a bit from the spices I've been using and start experimenting more.

40.14 ▶ Questioner: In dietary matters, what would be the foods that one would include and what would be the foods that one would exclude in a general way for the most or the greatest care of one’s bodily complex?

Ra: I am Ra. Firstly, we underline and emphasize that this information is not to be understood literally but as a link or psychological nudge for the body and the mind and spirit. Thus it is the care and respect for the self that is the true thing of importance. In this light we may iterate the basic information given for this instrument’s diet. The vegetables, the fruits, the grains, and to the extent necessary for the individual metabolism, the animal products. These are those substances showing respect for the self.

Because the instrument was losing a lot of vital energies. It does not mean that every single individual needs to consume it in every single meal. If you don't need it, if you are in no danger and you have alternatives, then there shouldn't even be a question.

I also think Nau7ik has had some very good points. But again, we can't compare ourselves to the natives or to the animals that hunt animals. Our lives are in no survival mode anymore, we are not on the same level as them, we have so much power over them. They are born in captivity, in cages, crammed spaces, filled with feces and disease, their body's mutilated and their babies taken away, they have no chance of survival like they do in the nature, they have no freedom. It is truth.

In most indigenous societies (who tend to predominantly rely on little meat input), plants were always considered as living beings. And any disturbance or taking from nature whether that be harvesting wild plants or clearing a field to farm required a ritual offering to help restore any of that debt which was seen as ending the life of those beings.

This was understood because it's clear to any indigenous person who lives off the earth that we are walking plants. And any meat eating predator is just eating grazing plant animals anyway. The rain and rivers also run through our veins, the rocks are in our flesh and bones, the clouds in our lungs, plants synthesize the sun..so that's in our bodies too. We're a walking earth and sky. And in many tribes, because this continuum was understood and we were a part of it, certain rituals done by humans were understood as necessary to keep the sun moving across the sky for instance. If the sun feeds you but you don't feed it, how can it/you continue?

I think the question is how far do you want to go with your spirituality and reasoning? The most important aspect I believe is living a life of ritual offering and respect towards those things that give us life. How often do we thank or address anything in nature? We're very concerned with ourselves and each other, yet rarely acknowledge nature in a deeply felt way. This is starting to become a central part of my life, and I think it's a huge hole in our seeking.

Any ritual offering must be something modified or created in a way that only humans can do. Killing some flowers to offer to your garden is just another debt. Drilling a hole in a seashell to make a bead is an ancient offering that many peoples did (if you do it with hand-made tools, even better)..something like singing a song or a dance is an offering too.

I pay for ethically raised meat when I can..that's a good start..and I try to eat small amounts. It doesn't come without some amount of sorrow. At the end of the day so much of life surrounds food. Is there anything better than sitting around with friends and family while stuffing your face? How much stuff do we need in life to spend our money on? So I say start spending your money on organic and ethically raised food.

Did you know that all hens lay eggs, regardless if they've been fertilized by a rooster? I never knew that! So there's no harm done from taking eggs from a free-range farm that treats their chickens well.

I've thought about this before, and it really begs the question: how is it that ~250M Indians are pure vegetarians, and hundreds of thousands to millions have existed for generations as pure vegetarians without health problems? It makes perfect sense if the 'animal products' Ra refers to non-meat animal products such as diary and eggs, or basically if Ra is recommending a vegan diet w/ some vegetarian components as necessary.Alternative, you could alternative answer the question by saying that Ra is referring to meat, and that it's special genetics among vegetarian-for-generations indians which have allowed them to live without meat for thousands of years.

I'm curious if there are other ways to reconcile historical vegetarianism on our planet for entire cultures over millienia with hundreds of thousands of people versus the concept that many people on earth need meat to physically survive (barring exceptional cases of course).

This information was for Carla. Carla ate meat, so you can extrapolate from there regarding free will, what a person believes, addictions and so on.

Although the employees are the ones who've done some of those deeds, the company is as much responsible, I had to stop watching because it became apparent that the business usess the same tactics of blaming and punishing the employees to protect themselevs and act like it's not them and that they care. They stated, as a animal cruetly-free company that the male veales are not going for slaugther and that they are raised together, in the video released it was seen as an obvious lie. They're kept in mud and feces in a cage barely fit for their size, babies marked with heated steel. Who's to blame for that, the employee? Come on. It is not something uncommon, this is the truth throughout nearly all animal industries. It is a profit, to them, there is no place for compassion in profit. There is no profit if you don't take the baby from its mother, there is no profit if you raise the male veal, this is insanity, cruel, very, very cruel.

I'm not sure what all you're referring to because I didn't watch the videos posted, because I've seen enough of that stuff.

Well that's all very unfortunate. I assumed that because Fairlife is only a milk company, that they would only source from suppliers involved in milk. For such a large company I guess I should have known better, but I'm trying to have some hope and look in directions that seem to be doing positive things on a scale needed given the size of our population.

It's stuff like this that only reaffirms that living closer to the earth is worth pursuing, so people have greater and greater opportunities to make more ethical choices.
