Haven't seen this posted anywhere else on B4. I'm not intending this as a scare tactic response, and I'm aware that it's a possbility that it's all this is. BUT, in case it isn't! A bill is coming up that would give the government the power to censor websites and force ISPs to block those blacklisted sites. This is the same kind of power that we in the US make such a fuss about when the Chinese government does it.

Just the other day, President Obama urged other countries to stop censoring the Internet. But now the United States Congress is trying to censor the Internet here at home. A new bill being debated this week would have the Attorney General create an Internet blacklist of sites that US Internet providers would be required to block.

This is the kind of heavy-handed censorship you'd expect from a dictatorship, where one man can decide what web sites you're not allowed to visit. But the Senate Judiciary Committee is expected to pass the bill this week -- and Senators say they haven't heard much in the way of objections! That's why we need you to sign our urgent petition to Congress demanding they oppose the Internet blacklist.

PETITION TO THE SENATE: Censoring the Internet is something we'd expect from China or Iran, not the U.S. Senate. You need to stop this Internet blacklist in its tracks and oppose S. 3804.
Add your name and we'll deliver your message to Washington.

There's a petition and phone number on the link.

This is a good opportunity to ask: What is an effective use of political catalyst for growth in the Law of One?

If we put our energy into petitions against evil, is that a chance for the Law of Attraction to bring in more evil? If we put our energy into petitions for the government to do good, is that a way that we make a spiritual affirmation of dependency on the government? Or is it a positive form of spiritual growth to join petitions, movements and exposure of stealthy evil? Do we evolve as spiritual entities when we overcome reluctance and resignation to get politically active, or do we evolve when we set aside these concerns of the material world?

I've only got about 3 websites I ever visit anyway. If it gets bad enough that I can't talk to my friends online, I'll just call them on the phone. Still, it would suck if this happened, though our global communications network is so huge I think they'd have a hard time stomping out every trace of anything. People are making up new ways to spread information all the time.

An uncensored and neutral net is immensely important. I encourage my American brothers and sisters to think about doing this. In Holland they had an official pirate party you could vote for. They had my vote until I heard them talking for the first time.. I agree with their agenda but they are just not mature enough to be taken serious. And the Netherlands at this time have some pressing internal problems..

Apparently half the population suddenly considers the basic principle of equality obsolete... Apparently exporting Roma is entirely acceptable. And exporting Muslims is next on the agenda Sad

Sometimes I think people just never learn...

This reminds me of an old video game I used to play, Ultima Online, it was made to allow anyone on the planet with internet connection to play together. It had translators already integrated which is a huuuge step forward into the future back in '98. Rather than allowing online games like that to continue to thrive and allow many cultures to speak to each other now most games are localized. Why would I want to play with kids around the corner, on the same state, or even same country? What catalyst for learning is there to be taught that way?
Censoring and boxing people into zones is just another way to control the thoughts of many, because if everyone realized there are no borders, nationalism is a useless idea, trade should be free without intervention of 3rd parties that just want to fill their pockets... then those in control would no longer be needed.
