Not a dismissal at all but I realize my inability to convey what I am experiencing
Details are kind of not something to post on a message board either as it would just complicate what I'm already failing to communicate. Maybe one day we will meet in person.
But on this we are not seeming to make progress via text on a forum.

Don't worry, I brush most people the wrong way it seems. My own point seems to have been lost in any case. All is well, best of luck.

Not lost at all. For the most part the people who surround me are involved in an extreme luxury endever that they are all quite passionate about. Unfortunately I built my career in that industry and after being a part of it for 30 years(I'm 39) I can no longer relate to them. It's very difficult to relate to the 1% or those who sacrifice everything to keep up with the 1%. since they mostly seek just to enjoy the pursuits of the 1% when you no longer see that as an end to itself. I understand their passions well I was there I don't judge it. I just feel alone around them.

I'm happy they are happy. I just cannot go there with them, and yeah been there done that got the "emperor has no clothes t-shirt".

See I didn't want to post the details. I'm sure it happens in all walks of life.

That explains more clearly where you are actually at though so I'm glad you shared. My original response would have been much different if you explained it this way as before it came across as disdain.

Having been a broke ass my whole life I have mixed feelings about wealth and the power that comes with it. I no longer believe that wealth only comes with corruption but I do see that the corrupt invariably desire wealth and it is a hard image to reconcile. I would happily be wealthy, I think I could do many positive things, but I do also fear the retribution of my 'grassroots' friends and community and how they would perceive me just by virtue of my wealth.

I suppose you could say I have the exact opposite problem to you. I am surrounded by alternative, philosophical folk and I struggle with the identity of having a very larger than life set of desires.

Well, to clarify, I don't care much about the material side of things. I like stuff, but I am not very attached and am very in the mindset that things are temporal. My goal for wealth isn't about the wealth itself but rather is about investment. I figure that I'm here for at least another 80 years, why not use all the tools available to do good works in the world? Relationships are wonderful and can make many positive changes in the world, but the structure of the world is controlled by the flow of economics.

I'm not rich either, just found a way to play the game.

I agree though nothing wrong with wealth.
I have some philanthropic plans if I ever manage to figure out how to fund them.
Would only take a few with great wealth and a will to change things for a huge impact to be had.

At least that is what I am finding. You guys here are great but in real life I'm around tons of people everyday and they all seem so focused on the transient. I can get them to open briefly but then it's back to the material.
They can be great too for fun but I crave depth in relationships.
do you guys find others like yourself? In person?
    If so where?

sjel where do you live? have you thought of trying to attend a spiritual conference, convention or fair in your local area? meetup.com has stuff like that, eventually you find something, usually these types of events are posted at your local gemstore or spiritual bookstore. do you have anything like that?

Same. I love to play in the world but it's never enough and it always has a backdrop that leaves a person wanting more depth. Especially if you are considering all things as one. I feel when we explore the true nature of all being one the discoveries literally become endless and fascinating but in most mysterious way. We desire to share the depth and the meaningful discoveries but find the world is disinterested. Love you Glow!
