No matter how many times Michelle and I listen to them, there are some sections of the Law of One audio files that we just can't make out. For example, this brief clip from session 17 (4 seconds, 690KB). It's the part marked [inaudible] in the first sentence of Don's question in 17.1. ("Thank you very much. I wish to say again… consider it an honor, great honor, and also a privilege, as my [inaudible].")

Are there any audio wizards out there who could either tell me how to optimize snippets like this or would be willing to do it themselves?

Bonus points if you can tell me what Don says here.

Is there any way to post a few more seconds, perhaps leading up to that part? This clip is too short for me to really get a proper "noise profile" for the audio program to work.

Sure. Here is the last bit of Ra's opening statement and then Don's whole question. http://www.lawofone.info/audio/17.1-q.wav

Sounds like "it's my every effort to be of use".

Cool! That phrase would make sense in there too. I can only make out a syllable or two, so I'm curious as to what sort of equipment and program you're using to hear the wav file, zenmaster.

Used amplifier in Audacity 2.0.2 and the noise-cleanup tool "Soundsoap 2.4", played it in a loop a few hundred times while turning the knobs. Wrote down various plausible phrases and that one seem to fit.

So do you recommend SoundSoap? It looks like the company that made it has ceased operations, but it is still available to buy.

I bought it to clean up some of the old Larson-interview cassette tapes. Still have the tapes, probably should do that sometime. Probably not quite state of the art, but can't afford state of the art. It's marginally better than Audacity's denoiser.

I also used Audacity then used Adobe Audition to clean it up but I didn't get anything out of it :p The noise clean up kept taking away too much of Don's voice no matter how low I set it.
