I have never used the services of a psychic or spiritual/energetic healer.

but just from my own limited viewpoint, it seems as though women seem to be more attracted to this work/have more inherent skill in this domain?

this is just my impression from observing wesbites, reading books, being in metaphysical bookstores where such services are offered etc.

I would guess a 60/40 split in favor of women, or maybe higher?

does anyone else get this feeling? and why would this be the case?

Hi, in an Anthropology class I took on the topic of magic and religious practices one of the trends we explored was how people who fall into social categories that traditionally don't hold a lot of power (so women and the poor especially in many societies) are given extra opportunities to enter spiritual or magical traditions. In many cultures there is the idea that the poor hold power, that is why many traditional rituals begin with a ritual offering of food to the poor.

As an example, in Haitian voudou one can become a Houngan (male priest) or Mambo (priestess) by attending formal training which costs money, however poor women can also become mambos if they have a dream about being underwater and receiving teaching from the loa Ezili (who closely matches Isis/the High Priestess archetype). Direct initiation of this type is ONLY available to women.

It might not be true in other cultures. Have you looked into, say, Aboriginal culture to see if most of their shamans are male or female?

My guess is that there are more women healers in our culture because of the roles society has placed on the genders. Here in our culture, women have been more in touch with their emotions. Though that might be changing now.

Most female healers I know have strong masculine energy or balanced feminine/masculine energy.

most psychics are females because to reach that level of awareness you need to clear your chakras which involves handling your ego your karma, and your emotional baggage

most men do not acknowledge that side of themselves or do not think going over it is productive at all

of course they end up being the muchismo macho type so i'm not surprised

i blame social engineering and the way culture is portrayed out of the television. everything that is in touch with the ego, judgement, and narcissism

    This pretty much.

As I understand it the Divine Feminine/Masculine is very unbalanced within the 'general' male populace. One should also note the Earth being Feminine itself aids in 'nurturing' like to like energy.

One factor in this situation could possibly be that women generally have longer/cleaner hair.
    I'm serious.

75.33 Questioner: You mentioned in an earlier session that the hair was an antennae. Could you expand on that statement as to how that works?

Ra: I am Ra. It is difficult to so do due to the metaphysical nature of this antenna-effect. Your physics are concerned with measurements in your physical complex of experience. The metaphysical nature of the contact of those in time/space is such that the hair, as it has significant length, becomes as a type of electrical battery which stays charged and tuned and is then able to aid contact even when there are small anomalies in the contact.

Also i've read lots of info from various sources about the hair being a spiritual antennae, making one somewhat more spiritually sensitive if they have longer hair thus the skewing towards wommen for said topic.

@Lightseeker, OMG! I was thinking the same thing! I thought I was the only one who paid any attention to that particular quote. Actually... I am growing my hair out for this very reason. BigSmile

Overall, I would agree with plenum. I think there is slightly more women seekers than men (at least in the US). I have suspected it is a cultural thing due to the promotion of masculinity in American culture. Despite being a male heterosexual, I am greatly annoyed by over-the-top masculinity (or femininity) although I have no problem with it as long as each respective opposite sex is shown respect.
