I have noticed in myself, and in others, that we pass through a stage in our Seeking where it is 'all business' and 'all seriousness' and its all quite dour and humorless. It's like we hit a phase where 'fun is not allowed' because it might distract us or we think its time-wasting or something.

I been there. And you can't convince others of your 'sparking radiant spiritual joy' if you are dour and straight faced Smile

but its a phase. And we all go through it.

I have noticed that the more 'balanced' individuals in my eyes make use of the full spectrum of the self. And if I may bring in my favourite specimen to show off again, Mr GLB is always and ever sparkling with a humorous touch that matches his depths of profundity.

the Dalai Lama seems to be ever grinning lol.

the laughing buddha (who was not the 'gautama buddha', the famous 'buddha') supposedly looked like this:

    and daddy Ra tells us:

"The heart of white magic is the experience of the joy of union with the Creator. This joy will of necessity radiate throughout the life experience of the positive adept."

" It is our joy to speak with you. "

"The contact with intelligent infinity is most likely to produce an unspeakable joy in the entity experiencing such contact. "

"Firstly, in the green-ray activated being there is the potential for a direct and simple analog of what you may call joy, the spiritual or metaphysical nature which exists in intelligent energy. This is a great aid to comprehension of a truer nature of beingness."

That is Hotei (in Japanese) or Pu-Tai (in Chinese), one of the 7-lucky gods in the Shinto religion, and I guess a 'buddha' in other beliefs. Happiness and abundance was his 'thing' I believe.

Do you mean to say you were once a sparkling radiant spiritual joyous person, or whatever?

The idea is old identity vs new-found identity denotes a phase, which is never ending.

I am not sure if I agree with you here though, zenmaster... Ra said that the heart of evolution of the spirit is:

"Unity, love, light, and joy; this is the heart of evolution of the spirit."

Do you really think it's a phase?

Most of the time when seeking there is no humor for me.

The *idea* of it certainly is a phase, when presented with new circumstances. If you want humor, take a look at the attempt to contrast Ra-material search results for keyword 'joy' with a would-be opposite, 'humorlessness'. Um shoehorning anyone?

It means cramming an idea into a space perceived to accommodate.

Zenny, your intended point has evaded even me due to ambiguity, real or perceived.

If I took a wild gander about zen's message, my guess would be the idea of a humorless / full of joy contrasts, as presented, is more akin to bipolarness, than the joy in the balanced state. But I could/probably am wrong!

In 3D, a serious attitude is not generally or in priciple an evolutionary predecessor to one of humour - as a type of phase. Further, although "Joy" as depicted in the Ra material is not really exemplified by the concept of humour, that's the suggested idea here. Yes, there are evolutionary phases and one of them is indeed embodied by the suggestions of free association.

I've been joyful with the hardest sufferings and when humor was the furthest place from my mind. Joy and humor are not synonymous as it seems zenmaster is suggesting. I'm a joyful person but I go through serious phases and humorous ones. Although joy can be expressed as humor that's not the essence of joyfulness.
