So I've had this intermittent issue for a while now. It only used to happen back when I was a habitual smoker and I'd take a tolerance break. It would also happen the night after I had drank for repeated nights. Now it's happening quite frequently for no apparent reason and I have yet to find any definitive answer on any Web search.

As I sit here,  I can quite literally feel individual hairs standing up on my body. Sometimes it's a little flicker,  sometimes it feels like an all out bite from some sort of bug. For a while,  I thought maybe I had some weird infestation like scabies or some parasite on my skin until the moment came when I finally saw it happen. I looked at my forearm intently until I saw one move. I saw a single hair stand up from underneath other hair.

Now imagine feeling a single hairs from your feet to your scalp just randomly move and you can understand how nerve wracking this is. It will prevent me from sleeping when it happens until I sedate myself enough on Melatonin I pass out. It doesn't happen often but it's happened a handful of times over the passed couple weeks so it's become quite the nuisance.

Since I can't find medical literature about it and a doctor would most certainly think it's some psychosomatic Phantom disease,  I'm wondering if there is some sort of spiritual meaning that anyone knows of.

Its almost as if energy is making my body tingle but it's not a buzzing feeling it's like static electricity is making hairs stand up one at a time

You got it, static electricity. The body has a fairly significant electrical charge.

Remember what Ra said about hair? Antenna-like substance. You're picking up some sort of signal, apparently.

I had a 'message' to ask you if you are getting enough Vit B's... either have a blood test to see if you're low or take a daily supplement for a while
... (if you feel this might help)

Do you wear synthetic fabrics - nylon, polyester?  Or use synthetic fabric bedding?

Those fabrics are amazing at generating static.  Try cotton instead.

Also, you could try grounding yourself - eg, touching the metal housing of an appliance.  There are all kinds of grounding mats and such sold as well that plug into the grounding pin in your electrical outlet.

I can be completely naked and straight out of the shower and I feel them. It's funny as the more I focus on them or talk about them, the stronger they get

I'll have to check vitamin b in my diet.

    One hair...At a time...??!

Oh gosh, I wouldn't want to know that feel.  You saw this on your arm though.  So body hairs too.

Maybe it has to do with your intention.  If hair is antennae like, and you're picking up 'small singular pointed individual' signals one at a time, it might be your self trying to tell you to watch your intention and your desires.  To be aware of your current thoughts and emotions, current feelings and intents.

You could also see if you had any 'charged' or 'intense' emotional moments or personal moments before they happen, or see if they correspond to any synchronicities or simply see if any specific thoughts or emotions or anything specific at all triggers it.

Pay attention to the spot on the body it happens, try to figure if there is something small or individual along or next to many similar <things> that is or are (in your mind) present.

I know my body weight is tied to my spirituality in some way, so I can imagine having such a precise phenomenon would be nervewracking, like as if something were going wrong with your body.

Also, if it's electrical it may be nerve oriented, if you go to any doctor, consider if you look at specialists a neurologist.  Hair is in itself sensitive, so if some of them are stiffening up with anywhere from a tickle to a jab of electricity it could be associated with your nervous system, which I should remind you is connected to your Stomach (Lower Triad), Heart (Consciousness/Bridge), and Brain (Spirit/Form Maker) so if something is happening there, it may be worth keeping an eye on and seeing if your body doesn't sort it out eventually on its own.

Alternatively, it could be a Self Greeting or a form of Catalyst.  Have you ever been interrupted by it in meditation?

It's happened during meditation and its too intense to maintain concentration while it happens as I'm constantly itching or rubbing the area where the hair moves.

I do wanna thank lighthead though because even though the link he supplied isn't what I'm suffering from, it led me to something called formication which is a tingling sensation where a differential diagnosis is lyme disease. I say this because I've suffered from exhaustion for a while with no apparent reason except working a lot. I've also suffered from profuse joint pain, trigeminal neuralgia, painful lumps under my skin, horrible cluster headaches, sleeping problems, etc

So I'm gonna finally go get tested to see if that's the cause.

That sounds like dreadful symptoms, Jeremy. Have you double checked for any thicks or thick bites on you? Those thicks can get anywhere, on the scalp, in between the toes, behind the ear, in the ear canal etc. Just the other day I removed one on the backside of my armpit. I actually know quite a few people that have suffered from lyme disease and some even multiple times. Here in Holland, a few years ago you would only have to be wary in woodland areas and meadows, but ticks are moving into urban areas now as well. So maybe this is also the case in the US? If it's not lyme disease then perhaps you could make an appointment with a neurologist or dermatologist. Anyway I hope it's nothing serious.

It's not as bad as it seems. The only constant symptoms are the joint pain and fatigue. The lumps and headaches only randomly occur. Now the trigeminal neuralgia knocked me down for a few days. Luckily an ER doc I work with gave a script for dose pack of corticosteroids to ease the inflammation. I was useless as work for those three days as I was such a fog from the burning electric shocks to right side of my head.

I hope it isn't lyme..keep us updated. The problem with lyme disease is that not only do the symptoms resemble common issues, they can show up years later after a bite, so people who don't go in the woods or are around meadows think nothing of it. So many doctors naturally address symptoms as they normally would with no success. I've been bit a few times, but luckily seem to have not gotten it.

People have had great success treating it naturally, when just the medications weren't working. It's worth looking into. I have Buhner's book from '05 link
