One is other, thus one can't be without the other.

I feel the answer is accurate, but there is a problem. It seems the reason, but at the same time not. Lets replace confusion with sufference and clarity with bliss. Isn't it possible to feel or desire bliss without having to feel sufference? Assuming all is one that would be impossible, but illusion or not, I can imagine bliss being without sufference. It is a perfect feeling and once felt, to me, one is just drawn to it. This means that, although sufference helps by providing further motivation, it doesn't appear necessary. The same applies for confusion and clarity. Confusion doesn't appear necessary for clarity to be. Again, in some level I understand how confusion would help one reach clarity but I can't see it as something absolutely, utterly necessary.

As I understand it, confusion is necessary so that each may reach its own conclusions--or its own path to clarity. In other words, clearer reality lies within self, not outwardly, and confusion drives a being to search within.

If that confuses you, peradventure, seek within for clarity.

peregrine,   are you trying to be confusing ??   Confused

Sorry Sunclarity, I am just trying to confuse peregrine. Tongue

Since the essence the LOO material process is about progression on the path, yes it would be apparent that confusion would be here, right ?
I kind like confusion because .. I am a nerd and I like to go inward..

Clarity requires true knowledge. Anytime that true knowledge is lacking there will be confusion. Bliss seems to be able to exist outside the duality of suffering. However if we were always in bliss it wouldn't be bliss anymore, it would just be the way you are. Just like you can get used to pain and pressure and sound and taste. You become accustomed to things that are unchanging. At least in our density, there can be no bliss without suffering. It is the contrast which allows you to see.

Apart from clarity and confusion, there's also a third element: the something which you can have more clarity towards, or more confusion towards. Free will means that you can relate to that something in more than one way, and that means you can have more clarity or more confusion, in a variety of ways.
