I had an insight in meditation today (ironically) that I thought was interesting. I notice that meditation is an absolutely amazing thing. It gives me a sense of being genuinely connected to something higher, like, in a very practical way. Meditation in minutes can level all sorts of thoughts I had that are not useful. That are just a little bit off and are going down a non useful direction.

But the second I stop meditating I completely and utterly forget how useful it is! Perhaps because of its lack of 'loudness'.

I used to meditate steadily for about 8 years and I have spent a lot of time outside that in semi frequent meditation. But that has not changed. The second I stop I forget!

Anyone else have the same experience? Or any other thoughts on meditation in general?

You forget the experience that you had within meditation, or forget the overall value of meditation in your life? Or all of the above?

There are so many forms of meditation.

I prefer to do it while walking alone through a forest, ideally listening to a creek , the birds, the wind.
Just let go any thoughts, get into the now and release anything.
Such impressions will stay after the thinking will come back.
