Hey I was just wondering if anyone knew any good music that sort of centers around a Law of One perspective? I'm sure there's plenty out there, and some religious music could debatably qualify, but I was thinking something less along religious lines and more like music with just spiritual themes. Myself, I have heard some electronic music that's very expansive and positive and has the sort of vibe I'm looking for, like shpongle and tangerine dream and some astral projection, but not much with those kind of lyrics, with the possible exception of some John Lennon and George Harrison tunes, and just traces of it here and there in other people's work. Any suggestions?

    What a great thread!

Although I love a lot of 'New Age' music such as Kitaro, Vangelis, Enya, Yanni, etc., my fav artist of all time is Peter Gabriel. His lyrics aren't overtly spiritual, but they definitely evoke a deep emotional and, in many cases, spiritual response. He doesn't have a technically 'perfect' voice but is able to reach deep down in our psyche, pull up the pain, and bring it up to a higher level of transformation and healing. I definitely believe he is a Wanderer.

His music is very unique. No one sounds like Peter Gabriel! And every song is different, so if you don't like some, you might like others.

Here are a few you might like to start with...you might want to do a search for the lyrics as well - they're awesome! Always meaningful.

Amazingly I found some very spiritually oriented music in the hip hop / rap genre. I would highly recommend the album 'The Craft' by Blackalicious to you. It's all positively oriented material that just sounds great. Some songs blew me away with how in line they are with the Law of One philosophy. I forgot which song but there is a direct line that says something about all being one.

Here are a few songs... there is some strong language be warned, but again, this is all positively oriented. Ignore the video just listen to the audio:

World of Vibration - Lots of reference to channeling and everything being made up of vibrations
    http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=LMrg2MCOxRM

Automatique - Even more channeling reference, co-creators, meditation, lots of gratitude, life philosophies... etc.

Hey, also, in watching the Blackalicious videos, I came across Gift of Gab which did some collaboration with them, and who also has songs oriented towards the Law of One. In their song "Way of the Light" they even specifically mention 4D:
Fourth dimension rocketships tellin ya all why, wake up from your slumber my children it's all lies, money just like everything else it all dies...cause true wealth resides deep inside

Haha and the name of their album is 4th Dimensional Rocketships Going Up
    Wow

Misterabbit, l was thinking of starting a thread like this. I see you beat me to it. I listen to some shpongle at times....
Bring4th-Monica, You hit the nail on the head!! Early Genesis is amazing!!!! The clips on you tube of the '73 Concert is part of a project by the Genesis museum. They came across this film, but it was badly damaged and they spent a lot of money to fix it up. The footage is actually the best they could piece together from 2 nights. The 30th and 31st of October 1973. It was filmed by students doing thier final project in film. Concerts weren't usually filmed much back then. I have the entire thing on dvd!!!!!!! It's Amazing. "Supper is ready" is a masterpiece. I Felt the urge develop within me lately to watch it again and to share it with everyone who's interested. I think anyone that is on this site, would enjoy it a lot!!!

Anyone who's interested, send me a private message and I'll gladly send you a copy completely free! It would be my pleasure! (It is totally legal to copy and distribute for free. That is the intension of the Genesis Museum).

    OMG!!! Unknown Genesis footage??? OMG!

I collect all Genesis/Gabriel footage I can get my hands on. I just bought the new "Gabriel era" Genesis box set - did you know about that? It has good, clean copies of alot of that footage us fans have been collecting for years. Those performances were stunning! Do you have the Shepperton & Bataclan shows? If what you have is different, then YES!!! Are you saying you have the complete show? Wow! Then it is different, because none of mine have the complete show. Not even the complete Supper's Ready!

I definitely appreciate your offer! I will send you a pm. I'd be happy to share with you the stuff I have.

THANKS!!! (can you tell I'm excited?)

Hi Monica, It is the dvd of the Shepperton shows. It's the best video and audio that they could recover and they spliced together from the two shows to form the dvd. So sometimes you're listening to the audio of the first night and seeing the visual performance of the next night, and vice versa. They did a great job! You can't really even notice. So VOILA! The complete show! Including "Suppers Ready" for the last song. Very theatrical performance from Gabriel. Some great costumes too! I can't say enough good things about it!

The Tea Party. Heaven Coming Down. This song resonates very strong with me!

    "Heaven Coming Down"

With nothing to do you'd waste away
    Obscure in exile
    They've witnessed the times
    You've gone astray
    Whose fault? now you're thinking...

    Theres's nothing to prove
    A message from the crowd
    To the shore...

    And it feels now
    Just like heaven's coming down
    Your soul shakes free
As its conscience hits the ground

    So strange are the ways,
    They all have changed
Still life it stays the same
    A break from the past
    Could make it last
    Maybe just a little longer

    There's nothing to prove
    A message from the crowd
    To the shore...

    You surrender
    Love under will
    Rest assured you're adored

    And it feels now
    Just lie heaven's coming down
    Your soul shakes free
As its conscience hits the ground
    These signs, this fate
Takes a path you didn't choose
    Stay Strong, Keep Faith
    There is a change that's
    Coming through
    Hold on my love
    Hold on...

Wonder of the World by Rush of Fools

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfyowpSgD...re=related

This is my "start my day" song for the last week or so, since I discovered it. Something this universal and beautiful in mainstream music is a rarity indeed.

It truly puts me in "God mode," fully embodying unconditional love, becoming the True Self.

Anyone into psytrance? It has a high spiritual value for me. The psytrance community is highly spiritual/mystical, and it's not uncommon to see songs labeled 'transendence', 'love story', 'crop circles', 'purple harmony', 'controlled euphoria', etc.
It brings a sense of oneness for me. Many of the songs are created in love and wonder of the world we live in, and the higher mystical states the creators are trying to describe in their songs.

The sound quality is quite bad on youtube, but I'm grateful for it being easy to share.

Hey Ayadew, I am into some psychedelic and generally "psy" electronic music, though I'm no expert. I particularly like Astral Projection's "Ambient Galaxy" And Single Cell Orchestra's "Explore your mind" and several songs on the "Art of trance" Album ( think this is a series but the album I am referring to is the one in the series that has a picture of wings on the front of it and says "Angels" I don't know precisely what it is because I found it on pandora). Most of these songs can be found on myspacemusic, which along with youtube is also an excellent source for free music. I will check out your links soon. Oh, and of course shpongle freakin rules.

I'll check out all the other stuff you guys sent, too. Thanks for all the replies!

The shoegaze/dreampop genre is often classified as "ethereal" or "ambient". It's my favourite type of music and it is certainly related in many ways to psytrance and electronica. Lyrics are typically secondary to the music in shoegaze, in that they are either purposely drowned out by the wall of sound effect, or the lyrics are, for reasons variable by artist, mostly unintelligible. The way the vocals and the music come together, however, can often be transcendental. Cocteau Twins are widely regarded as the first shoegaze band, and Elizabeth Fraser's vocals have proven to be brilliantly non-committal to any one language, tho many have come up with very creative possibilities for their meaning. One song may actually be a listing of species of butterflies by Latin nomenclature. It is music that can intensify emotions and can potentially shift awareness due to its otherworldly nature.

While lyrically, these bands may not directly espouse the Law of One philosophy (although who knows, they may), yet I do feel it resound through the emotional counterpart of the music. I feel this also thru many of the bands on the 4AD label, Dead Can Dance, This Mortal Coil, etc., which is not all labeled as shoegaze.

However, there are exceptions. The Brooklyn-based Soundpool is one of the hottest new bands on the scene. They are usually referred to as dreampop, but categories aside it's All One anyway, right? Wink They really employ the wall of sound well, yet the vocals are somewhat discernable and the band actually releases the lyrics on their CDs…in fact one of their hit songs that they made a video for, The Divides of March, has the words going across the screen. That song says it well:

    "the divides of march
have blinded the dove-eyed to their dove vision
all the dove-eyed on the march
have been blinded by the illusion of division"

They've also been labeled as "space rock" because of their cosmic sound in songs like "span the universe," "for all eternity" and "my ethereal daydream." Best digested live. Seriously, their music is all-pervasive. Their two albums out now are "on high" and "dichotomies + dreamland." Another one should be coming out soon.

Also, I've always found Stereolab to be particularly conducive to meditation and lucid dreaming exercises.

You can find most of this stuff on youtube and the artists' myspace pages. I would also be more than pleased to share more information on this growing genre with whoever may be interested.

This is my first post on this forum, so I will endeavour to introduce myself properly as soon as time allows. Glad to see that a Law of One forum exists…maybe it'll keep me off Facebook! Smile

Hi everyone, speaking of Shpongle, here is a very psychidelic flash animation with the song "Divine Moments of Truth". I think it is super cool!!! It would be interesting to know what you all think of it.

Hi all, Iwas reading about building miniature pyramids in book three of TLOO and I thought of a song by Allen Parsons Project. I'll post the lyrics because I find the words very funny.

    Pyramania

There are pyramids in my head
    Theres one underneath my bead
    And my ladys getting cranky
    Every possible location
    Has a simple explanation
    And it isnt hanky-panky

    I had read
Somewhere in a book, they improve all your food and your wine
It said, that everything you grow in your garden would taste pretty fine
Instead, all I ever get is a pain in the neck and a
Yap yap yap yap yap yap yap

    Ive consulted all the sages
I could find in the yellow pages
But there arent many of them
    And the myan panoramas
    On my pyramid pajamas
    Havent helped my little problem
    Ive been told
Someone in the know can be sure that his luck is as
Good as gold, money in the bank and you dont even pay for it
If you fold, a dollar bill in the shape of the pyramid thats printed on the
    Back
    Its no lie
You can keep the edge of a razor as sharp as an
Eagles eye, you can grow a hedge that is vertically straight over
Ten feet high, all you really need is a pyramid and just a little luck
I had read, somewhere in a book, they improve all your food and wine
Id been told, someone in the know can be sure of his good luck
Its no lie, all you need is a little bit of pyramidic help

I hear a lot of Sigur Rós and Dead can Dance, both are mystical-sounding and at a few lyrics and melodies are very uplifting. I also like in general meditation and ambient music. I think it is when music has lyrics concerning to separation that may evoke a slighty negative polarity. Those of positive, peace and love, joy and union, relating more to positive polarity (like John Lenon - Imagine)

Yes, there is actually a lot of John Lennon and George Harrison that is very Law of One oriented in their lyrics. John's Mind Games, Love, Instant Karma!, and Whatever Gets You Through the Night are all good examples, as well as George's My Sweet Lord, Art of Dying, Give Me Love, and Beware of Darkness, just to name a few. Good stuff.

Oh, and Mikey I am enjoying your playlist at this very moment. I especially liked "Behold".

Oh and anyone dig the singing bowls? I know I sure do. Any links to goo recordings would be appreciated. I especially would like to hear them in conjunction with maybe some ambient music.

Hey, I found out what that album I was talking about before with the angel wings on it is. It's called "Angels: Chill Trance Essentials"

here is a link to where you can see it:
    http://www.cduniverse.com/search/xx/musi...ntials.htm

Anyway, if what's on that CD is called "Chill Trance" then I guess that's my favorite kind, more or less. I'll have to look at more of it.

Many of Vibrasphere's songs resonate deeply with me.Also Digable Planet's "Reachin'" The whole album is great and positive.Heiroglyphics (Third Eye Vision), they have a lot of cool stuff.I know these albums are kind of old but so am I. The Peter Gabriel song at the end of the movie Wall-e is good, so is the movie.

The group "Amethystium" is extremely loveable. Very harmonious sound.

This song was written nearly 30 yrs ago. Its always been a personal favorite of mine. And though, I've heard this song a million times..I never knew what the lyrics were actually about until (on a whim) I looked it up the day before yesterday.

Interesting bit of synchronicity considering where my thoughts lie these days...seems you are never too old to re-discover lost wisdom.

    Richard

The Outlaws / Green Grass and High Tides

In a place you only dream of, where your soul is always free
Silver stages, golden curtains, filled my head plain as could be
As a rainbow grew around the sun, all the stars I've loved, who died
Came from somewhere beyond the scene you see, these lovely people played just for me

Now if I let you see this place where stories all ring true
Then will you let me past your face to see what's really you
It's not for me I ask this question as though I were a king
For you have to love, believe and feel, before the burst of tambourines take you there

Green grass and high tides forever
Castles of stone, soul and glory
Lost faces say we adore you
As kings and queens bow and play for you

Those who don't believe me, find your souls and set them free
Those who do, believe and know that time will be your key
Time and time again I've thanked them for a peace of mind
That helped me find myself amongst the music and the rhyme that enchants you there

The Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News! (my favorite Huey song) Okay maybe he's just talking about more along the lines of a relationship, but hey it's still love right?
What about Lennon's Imagine? "I hope some day you will join us, and the world will live as one."

Any Jazz lovers out there? Check this out:

I had no idea John Coltrane's wife was even a musician, much less all into spiritual stuff. Pretty cool.
