I can't get past this song... I've been absolutely obsessed with it for months. I've been listening to it for years but never really payed closed attention. I really love it when I unearth hidden meaning in a song I've been listening to forever.

I read the lyrics and realized they were saying "she lived like a murder" not "she lived like a martyr" which caused me to become perplexed. I searched and was absolutely flabbergasted on the meaning of the song that I had been enjoying for long was so far off the mark. I thought the song was just an abstract song, but it has an extremely specific meaning: The song writer is awoken from a nap by a loud noise. He goes to his back door to discover a crow has flown into a window / glass door and clearly broken it's neck. The song is about the intense emotion he feels as he decides to mercy kills it with a brick. A flock of crows is called a 'murder', hence "she lived like a murder, how she flew so sweetly", and the crow "died just like suicide" because it flew itself into a window.

This song really represents to me the bittersweet beauty of the human condition.

Soundgarden - Like Suicide Wrote:Heard it from another room
Eyes were making up just to fall asleep
    Love's like suicide
Dazed out in a garden bed
With a broken neck lays my broken gift
    Just like suicide

    And my last ditch
    Was my last brick
Lent to finish her, finish her

    She lived like a murder
    How she'd fly so sweetly
    She lived like a murder
But she died just like suicide

Bit down on the bullet now
I had a taste so sour
I had to think of something sweet
    Love's like suicide

    Safe outside my gilded cage
    With an ounce of pain
I wield a ton of rage
    Just like suicide

    With eyes of blood
    And bitter blue
    How I feel for you
    I feel for you

    She lived like a murder
    How she'd fly so sweetly
    She lived like a murder
But she died just like suicide

    Yeah
    And my last ditch
    Was my last brick
Lent to finish her finish her

With eyes of blood and bitter blue
    How I feel for you
    I feel for you
    I feel for you

    I feel for you
    I feel, oh
    I feel for you

Ah ah yeah (I feel, I feel)

    She lived like a murder
    How she'd fly so sweetly
    She lived like a murder
But she died just like suicide

It speaks so deep to me because once when I was delivering pizza to an apartment complex in the early evening many years ago, I happened across a stray cat that was just skin and bones. The poor thing had patches of fur missing all over it's body... It was all I could do to restrain myself from killing it to relieve it's suffering. I couldn't believe it was even still clinging to life it was in such a bad condition. I didn't because I had very little time and I was afraid someone catch me and report me to the police or something. It was an extremely busy Friday night (and I was still basically a kid) so I didn't have time to call the humane society or anything.

the beauty of Bach's music is that it has an internal architecturation so sound, that it can be infinitely transcribed.

As of right now, I have a fondness for Miley Cyrus and Her Dead Petz (which is a huge artistic shift from anything else she has done).

initially this song may of been written about the loss of a friend, though i see multiple meanings in the context of the song.

1 example may be the passing reverence of organized religion while on the other had is the recount of someone who's live several lives.

it took years but finally love found it's way, makes me think about the current awakening and everything we all do in our daily lives to spread it or appreciate it in everyone's unique way of doing things.

    --------------
    Goodbye Mary
    Goodbye Mary

    Memory of a friend
    Memory I need to embrace
    Fallen out, fallen out
Fallen out of our time and space
    Memory of a friend, memory

All the aches, pains and the joys
    Of growing up beside you
    Dancing a spontaneous
A dance with you, your spirit lives
As you have spread the seed of love

Love of life, dark and bright
Love of life, love to laugh
Love of life, dark and bright
    Dark and bright

    It took years to intimate
    (I remember)
But finally love found its way
    (I remember)

    Unimpeded it could exist
    (A victory)
    So fun, so free

Love of life, dark and bright
Love of life, love to laugh
Love of life, dark and bright
    Dark and bright

    It took years to intimate
    (I remember)
But finally love found its way
    (I remember)
    Unimpeded it could exist
    (A victory)
    So fun, so free

As much as I don't want
    I have to say goodbye
    You will sing forever
Like an angel who flew away

    Lightning splits the sky
    Shining blinding white
And here I lie almost asleep
Reckoning in a place of peace

    And I feel
    I found my place
    In time and space
    In hope and faith
    And love I give
    My mind is clear
    I have no fear
    I shed no tears
    For you my dear

This world is wonderful, so beautiful
If only you can open up your mind and see

Your world is everything you ever dreamed of
If only you can open up your mind and see

    The beauty that is here
