Were I to tell a story,
it would be one of wisdom -
    not just fantasy or gory
    verbal combination. Come;
    sit under the shade of
my tree and hear the wind
    rustle the leaves above.
See, I have fruits for friends
    that come to admire
    the sweet nectar of eons.
    Inside, a seed of desire
    to sprout next generation.
    The life within fire,
    the fruit is the sacrifice
    for the continuation
of the line, the highest price -
    gladly paid by donation.
The fruit is the gift to Gaia,
    to sustain her children.
The barter in place to buy a
    spot of soil for brethren.
The fruit is the wisdom of ages,
    the seed is the soul.
Digested by spirits of the sages,
    dispersed by the knoll.
The knowledge of the tree; son,
    daughter, life and death.
Your body is but a leaf of a season
which falls at the end of breath.
Your mind is the flower, imagining
    the fruit, the torrential.
Your spirit is the fruit, enveloping
    the seed, the experiential.
All this is within the seed before
it is ever sown - potential.
Your free choice is what I adore,
    the definition of essential.
To eat, or to observe, under my
    canopy you have come.
Behold the wisdom of the phi,
it is what you are from.

    Groundhog Day

    Celebrate this unlikely oracle,
this ball of fat and fur,
    whom we so mysteriously endow
with the power to predict spring.
Let's hear it for the improbable heroes who,
    frightened at their own shadows,
    nonetheless unwittingly work miracles.
    Why shouldn't we believe
    this peculiar rodent holds power
over sun and seasons in his stubby paw?
Who says that God is all grandeur and glory?

    Unnoticed in the earth, worms
are busily, brainlessly, tilling the soil.
Field mice, all unthinking, have scattered
seeds that will take root and grow.
    Grape hyacinths, against all reason,
have been holding up green shoots beneath the snow.
How do you think spring arrives?
    There is nothing quieter, nothing
    more secret, miraculous, mundane.
Do you want to play your part
in bringing it to birth? Nothing simpler.
Find a spot not too far from the ground
    and wait.

    ~ Lynn Ungar ~

    House of Mirrors

These thoughts, these dreams, these visions I see
Foretell that purpose that dawns within me
In the darkness I sit, but I stand and walk
Angry voices in my head finally cease to talk
From a world that was spinning out of control
I have freed no less than my very own soul
In a robe stands a wizard, he raises a wand
Between the earth and the sky he forges a bond
Between thought and form crackles an electric spark
Within my heart he merges the light and the dark
If within a house of mirriors you find yourself lost
There is a ticket to freedom, you know the cost
You must pay with all of your unused tears
You must relinquish forever all of your fears
Raise your head up now , you must stand tall
Seek what lies behind an illusionary wall
Look in those mirrors, whose face do you see?
Because if you can't see yourself, you can't see me.

you can sit back and wait
or you can step up to the plate

    do you believe in fate?
or are you here to create?

a future of your own making
it is yours for the taking

    be real...no more faking
    think upon love when waking

    spread that feeling all around
make all your speech a happy sound

give the peace that you have found
as you listen to your heart pound

with each beat the truth grows
don't look past your own nose

just breathe the wind that blows
as you watch how all life flows

    peace,

When you get to the end of all the light that you know
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing one of two things will happen:
either you will be given something solid to stand on
or you will be taught how to fly.

Elongated shadows are cast from every upright object and scatter the ground like scratches, as if each was the last bastion of darkness. The great sun peaks over the horizon, breaking the veil of the long and cold night. The denizens of the dark scurry for their hiding places. What once was an elegant mansion, a paradise of splendor, for the creatures of the night is reduced to a sliver - a streak of shelter, an inn of ill repute burgeoning to capacity. There are not enough rooms in the bordello of shadow for them all to have their way. As the Earth tips further into the light, the claw marks of darkness slip slowly to their dens. As the day goes on, they would return again - reemerge to reclaim the night kingdom. This day is the final day, for Earth has chosen the light to stay. The night is over.
Tell me a story of the time
before we had words to rhyme.
Of when we pulsed to talk and
had no head on which to stand.
What was it like before we
    were segregated and built the
    walls to protect ourselves.
When was unity put on the shelf
and packaged not to be opened.
When we did we not pretend
    that we are somehow seperate.
How did we become so desperate
to put a label to end freedom
and try to call it wisdom.

    you think...you thought...you heard
    word after word after word

    you seek...you sought...you found
    the silent essence of sound

    you feel...you felt...you know
the smile from an inner glow

    you live...you love...you learn
    only the heart can discern

    you choose...you chose...you will
    thrill upon thrill upon thrill

    you give...you gave...you got
    each moments' another shot

    you wish...you hope...you pray
    harmony leads the way

    you breathe...you bow...you are
    connected to every star

    peace,

What beautiful poetry people have wrote! Your few words speak volumes.

I hope no one minds me sharing what I recently wrote:

    NEW MOON

    Past wise men's eyes,
    A silver lone light,
    Lights into new life.
    Marking distance passed,
    Years sliding by.

    I watched as a child,
    I watched as an adult.
    To join our faiths,
    With hand holding hand,
    As souls sink into time.

(Not about ascension in particular, just a few lines about the eternity of the soul and nature in model after the moon).

The world is not a courtroom,
there is no judge, no jury, no plaintiff.

    This is a carvan,
    filled with eccentric beings
    telling wondrous stories about God.

Lots of sorrow and a little joy.
Lots of joy and only a bit
    Of sorrow.
    Who can know
    The formula beforehand?

    We don't get to watch
While it's mixed. No one tells us
    What's in it.
    We lift it
To our lips - azure elixir
That burns our throats to crystal.

    spring has sprung
    i feel so young

    from winter's womb
    i blossom and bloom

    let it go

    let it go - the
    smashed word broken
    open vow or
    the oath cracked length
wise - let it go it
    was sworn to
    go

    let them go - the
    truthful liars and
    the false fair friends
    and the boths and
neithers - you must let them go they
    were born
    to go

    let all go - the
    big small middling
    tall bigger really
    the biggest and all
    things - let all go
    dear

    so comes love

Nice spring poem, Mikey. It reminds me of a verse I learned long, long ago:

    Spring has sprung
    the grass has riz
    I wonder where
    the flowers is.

to find the seeker one must implode
    into unity...into silence...into god mode

here it is revealed...here the veil lifts
all is known as self...there is no more rift

the illusion of "other" is finally seen through
the truth becomes clear...all of life is YOU

there never was anything else...just an ego dream

    my heart

my heart drinks deeply from the fountain,
    anxiously i lap the waters.
slow down, relax my brother, take your time, no rush,
take off your clothes , relax ,
we have all the time in the world, you and i.
    entwined in her heart ,
where does she end and i begin.
a tangle of arms and legs,
i partake of her sweet center.
    suddenly an explosion, a sunflower
propelling her children out into this world.
go and do your work ,
    i love you , i always have.
do u get it , do u finally get it.
    all is love

i dont know what is going on with me but im in a creative surge here
    hers another called

    so

so , when i was a little child i was abused and beaten,
my mother used to make me kneel down and keep
my arms out, if they dropped i was smacked in the face.
my heart has been encased in concrete.
like some kind of human chernobyl,
never permitted to emit any human emotion,
ever again, not even a little.
except sometimes even concrete springs a leak,
    and my pain seeps out,
to poison my enviroment and me once again.
trapped inside my house of pain,
    i never stop crying, ever.
    does anyone, could anyone,
    could someone, would someone,
    ever
    ever
    love
    me

    norral

i just wanted to say one thing i like to deal with painful topics when i
    write poetry, who knows why

    Hello Norral,

Your poetry is very moving I feel because you write about those painful topics. It's helpful to put that pain into words. I can identify with it; my mom was cruel to me, too.

    The Fountain

Don't say, don't say there is no water
to solace the dryness at our hearts.
    I have seen

the fountain springing out of the rock wall
and you drinking there. And I too
    before your eyes

    found footholds and climbed
    to drink the cool water.

The woman of that place, shading her eyes,
frowned as she watched-but not because
    she grudged the water,

    only because she was waiting
to see we drank our fill and were
    refreshed.

Don't say, don't say there is no water.
That fountain is there among its scalloped
    green and gray stones,

it is still there and always there
with its quiet song and strange power
    to spring in us,

up and out through the rock.

    Up beyond the stairway.

    My life is your stairway
    Your transition under your feet,
The time consuming steps which drain your energy.

    Never in between the
    First or the second floor,
Always in the middle of everything.

I’m just a nuisance to you.

    Everybody steps over me,
Seems like they don’t want to,
    But they have to,
To go to the next floor.

    I’m a stairway
    Not too steep
    Nor too long
    Riddled with safe guard rails
    To prevent you from falling.

But no one ever decides to hold on to these rails.

    Step, jump, pound, run
Hurry, off to your next destination!
I’ll always be there for you
Ready to endure your pulverizing feet.

    Don’t run too fast
    You’ll fall over me.
    Don’t walk too slow,
    You’ll get sick of me.

I’m the one to blame for your injuries.
    I hope one day
    To have a person
    Rest upon these steps,
    Which tire your feet.

All I want is your love,
    10 seconds of your attention
Please, count how many steps I have
    Towards your destination.

    Proceed to walk over me
    But be gentle
I’ve known you all for so long
It’s obvious just by the pace of your movement.

    Approaching your last steps
    Just turn around once
    And look to see how
    This staircase has helped you.

    Remember
    That there is no f---ing
    Second, third or fourth floor
    Without this staircase
    Blocking your way.

Please proceed to your next floor, using an elevator.

I poem i wrote a long time ago to let my negative feelings out on paper. I was hurt so much by the vampiric world when i was naive.
But it's an honor to have the gift to give, I just have to know that I have to keep a bit of blood to myself!

i'm sick of fences...i'm tired of walls
i need open spaces where beauty enthralls

i'm sick of driving...i'm tired of gas
i just want to spin on the comfy green grass

i'm sick of thinking...i'm tired of words
if only i could soar with the chirping birds

i'm sick of working...i'm tired of money
i wish for a living like a bee makes honey

    A Suspended Blue Ocean

    The sky
    Is a suspended blue ocean.
    The stars are the fish
    That swim.

The planets are the white whales
I sometimes hitch a ride on,

And the sun and all light
    Have forever fused themselves

    Into my heart and upon
    My skin.

    There is only one rule
    On this Wild Playground,

For every sign Hafiz has ever seen
    Reads the same.

    They all say,

"Have fun, my dear; my dear, have fun,
    In the Beloved's Divine
    Game,

    O, in the Beloved's
    Wonderful Game."

    ~ Hafiz ~

yes. that is one powerful poem, xenos. thanks for sharing. norral, my "net" name came from a misspelling of the word i meant to use. i liked it when i saw the mistake i had made and decided to keep it. i'm happy you like it.

    Thank you norral and haqiqu!
I didn't really like my poem but im glad you guys liked it! (and gained some insight?)

It's sometimes amazing to sit back and realize the tiniest things in life that seems to "fall between" our vision, just like it slides in between the grasp of our fingers.
It's those things (like staircases) that are the true treasures of life. Always there and never noticed.

Thats why gotta be thankful for anything and everything!

    Love and light!

absolutely, everyday things can be magical when you take time to "see" them. being grateful enhances anything and everything Wink

Love is not to be taken lightly....

    Courageous one
    Wishing to enter this play
    Know: there are
    No conditions nor limits.
One rule: it is all or nothing.
    No regrets. No returns.
    The only requirement is
    Losing your self
    Totally and completely
    Leaving no trace
    Of "I" or "mine"...

    In the game of love,
    The loser
    Gets it all.
