First, one can simply bother to look at the material. It's mentioned numerous times.
Also, why do you think the realms are referred to as densities? Sometimes you have to question nonsense.

You can have density of energy vs density of mass. Think of the progression of the densities:

You have 1d rock, inanimate material. Dense.
Next you have 2d plants, simple animals, and microbes. Less Dense
For 3d you largely have Humans, and some water animals. Possibly less dense overall.
4d moves from a chemical body to an electrical guided body. Very likely less dense as far as mass goes than 4d was.

It would seem to me that as you increase in density you decrease mass, and increase love/light.
