@Lightseeker, OMG! I was thinking the same thing! I thought I was the only one who paid any attention to that particular quote. Actually... I am growing my hair out for this very reason. 
Overall, I would agree with plenum. I think there is slightly more women seekers than men (at least in the US). I have suspected it is a cultural thing due to the promotion of masculinity in American culture. Despite being a male heterosexual, I am greatly annoyed by over-the-top masculinity (or femininity) although I have no problem with it as long as each respective opposite sex is shown respect.
