It's a theory not fact, so theories may not be reflecting what happens or happening. You're working off of a set of assumptions to make theory so if those assumptions are skewed to one probability then it's good to be transparent abut why we make those assumptions. Then there are more unconscious assumptions that creep into theories so deep reflection of how our more covert assumptions influence our theories may yield great learning opportunities (to learn about self).
