I saw an elf once. At least I think I did. I saw a being of light or fire from the corner of my eye, about 2 inches or 60cm tall, and then when I looked for it wasn't there to see. Perhaps it was just a glitch in my mind. But perhaps it was a glimpse into another world. Something we filter from our ordinary perceptions.
I think the mythological is very tied in with our subconscious. So the mythological creatures have very real symbolic meaning to us as conscious beings. As such they are real even if they don't show up in our rational thought and heavily filtered perceptions.
I like your anthropomorphic wolf visions Gemini because I've seen the same thing. Wolf is tied into my subconscious sometimes bleeding through in seeing myself as part wolf. This doesn't mean rationally speaking I am a wolf but my personal mythology certainly has a big dose of wolf medicine in it.
