The Unicorn would always appear to me in the time between dreaming and awakeness... as I watched the day turn to night and the forest became full of the golden light. And I would fall asleep and know that even though all was very challenging it would all be well.
From those early moments on I was filled with this need to Seek! So I first sought with fantasy novels containing unicorns. Unicorns this and unicorns that. I was that kid that had unicorns and fairies all over her room. Yep, Total Girl. LOL
My mother and father being God Fearing Christians grudgingly allowed me my obsession. Some where in my heart I felt that if I had enough proxy Unicorns, the Unicorn I would see at the edge of the wood would come and take me home. Never happened but every visit brought me solace and beckoned me to follow the golden strands of light. I did and found fairies as well as fairy rings and lots of herbs. The fairies were fond of leading me to areas of the forest or along side the road to where there was plenty of fruit to gather. It was a joy to follow them.
The Sugar, my beloved best friend and dog would bark at the Unicorn. Everytime it appeared the dog would bark in her deep throated german short haired big dog bark. My parent's were convinced she was "touched" and discussed in whispers that they would have to "put down" the dog... but they did not until she was old, deaf, and blind while I was away at college. Sugar lived to be nearly 17.
So, I took upon myself to convince my folks that the dog, sugar was nearsighted and the leaves on the trees made her bark because she was alerting everyone to the dangers of the leaves. It was for us and her love she barked. So they begrudgingly allowed the nearsighted "touched" dog to bark. LOL
My magic though backfired and I became aflicted with extreme nearsightedness. The lesson I am still attempting to unravel. LOL
So the Unicorn watched over me and inspired me during the long dark nights of my soul as I worked with the parental unit that is now beginning to lighten and shift with those that are just beginning to awaken.
