I believe I am more mystical than my atheist friend. But I don't know how to face myself. I try, and am not really confronted by my shadow self.

I once made an attempt to literally sit down and talk with my shadow self. He refused. I tried to conversate, he didn't want to talk.

I gave in to my shadow self in the sense that I surrendered myself to him and him to myself followed in suit.

Now we're a bit on iffy terms but there's some communication. You may find your shadow self isn't truly dark, just stuffed into darkness and unhappy with you for doing that to him.

At least, that's how it was for me, we both have changed and need to work together again eventually.
