oh, I definitely agree with that quote. Subjecting oneself to catalyst in the hope of 'desensitization' without working on deeper levels does little to address the root of the problem, as Ra quite aptly identified.
For my own sake, I was doing it in a knowing and conscious fashion, trying to engage the physical effects, and find the deeper cause.
as for the homeopathic effect being the true reason for the changed condition. That is entirely possible. I would say, however:
1) the allergy was totally eradicated in a short period of time. So I experienced zero adverse effects since that initial period.
2) the positive balancing effects in the solar plexus; irrespective of the change in allergy or not.
The difficulty I found, in this case, was since the 'running away' was the root problem, it was almost as though I needed to subject myself to the almonds (and the triggered conditions) to be able to be still with them, and feel the fury of the storm, and not flee from that.
So part of the Balancing, in this case, was about accepting discomfort for it's own nature.
So by all means, aggravating catalyst in the hopes of desensitization is not a complete solution in itself; and treats the issue as purely a mechanical, chemical one; when, in fact, it's more about a particular reason why chemical keys (in the form of food and substances) are being rejected, and an exaggerated response on the cellular level is being provoked.
