I think so. I think this generation is the one that will usher it in, or bear witness to its arrival. (And I believe we already are, at least to preparatory stages of it.) But I believe something similar to what Glow said, that the actual experience will be some hybrid that incorporates both "gradually" and "all of a sudden."
The first time I read Ra's comment on timeframes for the transition, where they specified between 100 and 700 years (40.8), I caught an intuitive flash that incorporated both the concept of various timelines having various possible outcomes, but also the simple reality that Earth's technological development is on an exponential arc that means we struggle to predict what healthcare technology will look like in fifty years, much less a few hundred. Perhaps the Pleiadian technology that Cobra talks about, with Star Trek-style medbeds, will in fact be widely available here before too long. In that scenario, you lie down in one and wake up a day or two later, completely rebuilt into what amounts to the fully fourth-density body that Jesus wore post-resurrection. But I also resonate somewhat with the idea that we're not to be waiting for something outside of ourselves to save us. And it's important to point out that even in Cobra's scenario, the dispersal of this technology occurs AFTER the Event has occurred, and the Event itself is described as a transformation in consciousness, rather than physical nature.
Personally, I suspect that while technological assistance will be available, there will be many (wanderers, for example) that don't need to avail themselves of it, because that newly expanded consciousness will allow them to accomplish the transformation of their physical body into fourth-density form without outside help.
