Xise is correct that in order to survive on this planet we must stop the greenhouse gases caused by farming animals and adopt a plant-based diet, and The U.N. has issued a statement saying as much.

It's not just greenhouses gases - land use is a huge problem. Whole swathes of forests are destroyed for farmland, and the vast majority of farmland is plants used in animal agriculture. Doing anything that requires large footprints of land decreases biodiversity and habitats for species on this planet. Land use and habitat destruction is a big reason why scientists say we're in a great mass extinction caused by human activity, and a significant portion of this is caused by land use for animal agriculture.
