Quote:He actually did say the hero’s journey was the male initiation myth. Then offered an ulternate obviously more clearly limited transformation to be the female initiation storey.
I think your reading too much into what I meant by male and female. As I was viewing it a woman has both a masculine and feminine nature and no one gender is limited to a specific initiation. I meant that the hero's journey is a 'journey' and this type of active engagement and conquest in the world in more typical of the masculilne archetypes than the more passive receptive nature of the feminine.
I think what your saying is from tarot the fool is not really a gender specific archetype and that you strongly associate the heros journey with tarot and this archetype. I was more looking at the hero's journey as it is portrayed in Hollywood movies, take the matrix as an example, the leads are mostly men and the story involves masculine things like fighting, exploring, conquering. Female lead movies are mostly about relationships. This is of course a massive generalisation. The male lead chooses his polarity by actively pursuing a just cause and fixing the injustices in the world. The woman lead chooses her polarity by discovering love and wisdom through relationships.
I was just mentioning it as an intersting thoughtpiece that I watched, if it doesn't fit your personal tarot view then discard it....
