I would also like to add though, that I don't think "seeing patterns" means that they aren't there or that they aren't meaningful.
Instead I would point to the opposite that we see patterns because everything is composed of patterns and that perceiving those patterns is a huge part of development of the mind. So, it's not like "oh everybody sees patterns, it's all interpretation", in my mind, it's more like "everything is made of layers of interwoven pattern that takes many consciousnesses to unravel".
