Aha.  Those rods typically weren't "copper and zinc", they were rods machined from silicate rock (for the right hand), and carbonate rock (for the left hand).  So, for the right hand:  quartz, quartzite, novaculite, etc; and for the left hand, limestone, dolomite, calcite, marble, and so on.

Those statues illustrate various postures that are part of an ancient Egyptian equivalent of Qi Gong practice.  I do this every day, using a quartz crystal in my right hand, and a calcite crystal in my left hand (for those postures using closed hands; most postures use open hands).  The best times are sunrise, noon, and sunset.  I demonstrated a routine to several attendees at the last Homecoming.

This practice is remarkably beneficial to the energy body, facilitating healing and well-being, and I cannot recommend it too highly.  If you are interested in pursuing this art, I suggest reading the book The Egyptian Postures of Power, by Jason Quitt.  It's made a great positive difference in my life. Cool
