Truly, we underestimate the Power of the subconscious mind. It creates everything you see no matter how distorted the image may be or evil/dark (for lack of a better word) or whatever we want to call it. Most of us think that there is something that is apart from us and it is not; it comes from within us. We are the generator, the creator of "it".
There is more to this than the small picture I am painting. There are books that can explain this from some of the most prolific esoteric writers.
I am not saying there aren't higher densities beings that we perceive is outside of us, however, most of these ghostly type things is actually our subconsciousness producing what are conscious minds has editorialized in error therefore creating the mental pattern that materializes in our experience. We should test these waters first before doing anything severe such as sage, salt, rituals, spells or what have you and there are obvious reasons for this.

Since we are making public statements about things which can be somewhat dangerous to deal with without proper guidance, I must make a statement for the OP and any future readers to see.

You have this completely backwards. Performing a banishing ritual, ritual consecration, cleaning, burning sage or other banishing incense, and using holy water to cleanse and bless an area, are not severe measures, they are the most simple and basic things a person can do.

There are not "obvious reasons", not to do any of those things. Indeed doing those things on a regular basis is done by people all over the world as part of routine and has been done for thousands of years. Whether the experience is caused by the subconscious or something else does not matter.

Anyone who learns any of the traditions having to do with this subject will be instructed to perform one or more of those activities on a routine basis as a matter of course from the very beginning of their training. It is also generally advised for people to do similar things and was even advised by Ra to the trio when they moved.

Ra: I am Ra. There is the recommended metaphysical cleansing as in any relocation. No matter how fine the instrument, the tuning still is recommended between each concert or working.
