I feel similar in a way, that the physical existence, including how life forms eat other life forms (whether plant, animal, etc.), tends to be ugly. It's something that comes and goes from my focus, otherwise I'd find existence ugly all the time, and when my attention is directed differently, then I can enjoy the more beautiful aspects which are also there.
As a means of consciousness existing in a world with other consciousness-units and interacting with them, physical life is rather cramped and limited. So much focus is taken up by biological needs that it is only through help of others and/or great technology that focus becomes free to move onto other things in larger part.
Without physical needs and constraints, focus could move away from money, greed, resource gathering and related conflicts, politics, and more. All of that baggage is inseparable from the physical nature humanity is stuck with. (Though presumably the limiting and conflict-centered things can also be reinvented and furthered at a higher level, as do higher-density STS beings, instead of leaving it all behind.)
