I think that the term "stranger" is a misnomer from the perspective of Unity. What I mean is that the closest circle of family members and friends may be karmically involved which reflects upon actions. I have an experience of being totally aware when my parent understood me perfectly in close proximity, but let me know that on entering the same room our conflict is a way to go.
That is not the case with entities without preconceived notions about yourself, for example in public spaces.
