I finally found this old video from a few years back. It's a newborn javelina running around and vocalizing. She isn't hurt or anything, just following the other babies and looking for the mother or something. She found her way back to the mother and nursed again. It's hilarious and adorable.
The newborn javies get up and walk around right away. You can see a part of the umbilical cord still there. I have seen many generations of javelina; they give birth twice per year. The first time I saw newborns my heart just swelled—they look like little stuffed animals. Unfortunately due to hunters the herd I knew just dwindled and I haven't seen any in a year or two, though I think a couple have come by in the night to drink from the pond.
