    True, but if this is the ONLY time that the clock has malfunctioned or functioned differently (as he has said, I have no reason to disbelieve him), at the same time he experienced time loss in his own perception, that is a coincidence that can't be ignored. Maybe it was a malfunction...how did the clock fix it self? Why did it never happen before this? Why hasn't it happened again? And why did it happen at the same time he experienced his own "malfunction?"

    it can be a solar wind hitting earth or a magnetic flux due to any kind of situation causing it.
