No no no. Both are natural, common, realistic. It isn't one or the other.
Of course, we could say EVERYTHING that exists in any fashion is natural as everything is a product of nature in some way. It could also be considered completely natural to crave undue suffering.
I was probing for a more specific definition as he was using it, because the context of the comment confused me.
