i wouldnt dub dragon age 1 and 2 or mass effect in line with new age concepts. the first is a rather well done medieval/fantasy rpg game, the latter is space rpg with a rather technopunk feel.
there is endless repetition in both games however. especially dragon age. it keeps you throwing into dungeons on and on and on. and, especially in mass effect 2, the game has been made way too less interactive - much more like a clickthrough movie, to appease consoles. the input and the participation of player has dwindled to a minimum.
still all these games combined, could not compete with star control in regard to the vastness, balance and innovativeness of the story and background.
