I've been having trouble sleeping lately...I wake up many times during the night. However, I've been getting short bursts of vivid dreams...perhaps they are so vivid *due* to the lack of sleep in general...Several of last night's were quite interesting.
In the first one I was sitting with a group of people, playing some kind of question and answer game. Carla and one of my friends were in the kitchen, and my friend came out and asked if I wanted to help cook. I was like "No thanks, I'm kind of busy now." and he said "Oh, okay." and went back into the kitchen. As soon as he was gone I felt immediate, intense regret, as if I had disregarded an enormous opportunity for service. I wanted to go into the kitchen and tell him I'd changed my mind, but it seemed that I could not enter the kitchen after refusing his invitation.
In the second one I remember I was at the mall, but everything looked different inside of it, as if they had remodeled. I got into my car and started driving home, and all of the colors around me suddenly became very vivid. The world looked crystal clear, in razor sharp focus. I felt a euphoria as I was driving, as if I was only experiencing what it was like to be alive for the first time.
This somehow progressed to me sitting in my living room, and (incoming metaphor) the density of all the objects around me suddenly began to change. Stuff sitting on the table slid right through it. Some things became so light they began to float around, and other objects became absurdly heavy. My phone started ringing and I felt that it was a very important call, but due to the sudden shift in matter I couldn't grab onto my phone. I finally picked it up and was flipping through my messages desperately, but I woke up before I could find out what the message was.
In the third there was a new guy at my work, and he tried to crush me with a bread rack. I was yelling "Hey! Hey! Stop it! I can't breathe!" and he was just ignoring me. I ended up getting away and I told my union steward, and she said something about how they were trying to get rid of him anyway.
Then I was driving in the car with Walter, and a star suddenly fell out of the sky and crashed into the earth, causing a huge explosion in the distance. Ash began to rain from the sky. Walter and I decided to drive to the site of the explosion to see if we could help any survivors, but somehow it all suddenly turned into me going on some kind of final fantasy fetch quest in a department store. I heard someone mention the names of these two brothers I used to go to church with a long time ago. They were supposed to help me or something.
Azrael, I've had a lot of night terrors, too. I remember one time I jolted awake in bed, completely petrified with fear, and all I could remember from my dream was staring at a metal wall. I don't know what about that wall scared me so badly, but it was a good 20 minutes before I could even move. I wonder exactly what it is that causes night terrors.
