I think there is a dynamic at work in that when we ignore this inner-spoken balance, we must compensate some how in an unconscious manner. One result is the creation of new ideas to provide more catalyst - hence the novelty.

Unfortunately many of these ideas aren't utilized for maximum benefit. At this stage everything is in place for polarization on a mass-scale. There is plenty of opportunity waiting to be addressed..inequality, over-population, food production to meet those needs, degradation of the earth, poor health etc.
