I played stalker but never made it all the way through it because I got too creeped out / lonely walking through a wasteland by myself. I am very happy you spoiled the ending since I probably would never make it through to the ending on my own.
There are other video games that hint of things to come / the way things actually are. I decided not to mention anything unless someone brought something up since I already have my "songs for wanderer's thread" that has the purpose of trying to point out the starseed-type messages contained. This is more obvious in TV shows and movies, but all the genre's of art seem to contain hidden messages in them to try to wake us up.
I can confirm a newer game called Tropico 4. This mostly has information trying to wake us up to manipulations of various governments. For instance, in an official mission from the makers of the game (called "Plantador"), you have to research various buildings instead of just having access to them. You start out the game forgetting everything you know, having to start from square one(not even roads). You are tasked with making lots of money harvesting cash crops such as tobacco / coffee. You have to research "mind control" to unlock the grade school, etc. Also... it has a black monolith showing up randomly straight out of 2001: Space Odyssey. I uploaded the monolith screenshot to http://steamcommunity.com/id/duncanidaho...8349389558 if anyone wants to verify.
