"Chakras" are energy vortex which configure and sustain your being. Therefore, one can always continue to balance them, as there in fact an infinite number of chakras.
However, once one balances decently it doesn't take as much DIRECT work on the Chakras. However, at that point, it kind of depends on where you want to go.
For me, don't "try to balance my chakras" so directly. Rather, I take the approach that I observe the balances in my life, knowing these are a reflection of my internal state which is articulated by my chakras. So I pay attention to my mood, my behaviours, the words I use, how I feel about people and the world, my sociality, how creative I am, how much I'm eating or exercising, etc and since every single one of these corresponds to a chakra center it gives me an indication of the way the various energies of the chakra centers are being manifested.
