Ahh, what a great example of how Spambots can detune a forum without even knowing it! :-)
Yes, you all are correct in your assessment. This user is on the "bot list". Specifically, a bunch of automated users are coming in with a consistent e-mail domain and similar IP range. Not to mention that within a few days, you can count on the signatures converting into a commercial product or service.
Please, all, keep pressing the "report" button whenever you see a quirky message like this. We want to keep the forums moving fluidly, and without the disruption, confusion, or misrepresentation that comes from being part of a wave of bots.
As much as it sounds like it's an uphill battle with the machines, it really isn't. Just flag the messages, and Monica or I will jump in and take care of business. We are also looking into other measures that will further discourage bots from posting, as it would require a lot more "human" effort on their part.
Keep up the great work, and do any of you oppose changing the title of this thread to something along the lines of, "How to detect a bot?" If anyone has a better title, please feel free to recommend!
Thanks,
Bring4th Admin Team
