why do some people seem to have lots of paranormal/metaphysical experiences and others do not?

I think it has to do with what may be compelling to evolution with respect to the current plan of incarnation. So entirely a matter of personal opinion here, until metaphysical (or "inner") things become more widely experienced and known. What's generally compelling and useful to evolution now do not entail paranormal/metaphysical experience because most of 3D is not about being an "adept", but learning the lessons of the density.
