The Dream Thread

Last night I dreamed that someone was shooting death rays off in my neighborhood. I walked outside and a bunch of traffic was stopped in the street, and the people inside the cars were nothing but skeletons, as if all their skin had been disintegrated. Somehow the death ray only seemed to affect human flesh, bypassing metal structures such as vehicles (reminds me of War of the Worlds).

No one wanted to go outside for fear that they would be caught in one of these death rays, as no one knew where they were coming from. I, however, wound up walking around in the street, and found myself in front of a bratty little girl. I must have made her angry somehow because she suddenly shot a huge, red ray of light from her body. I simply held up my hand in front of the beam and absorbed it into my body. There was a mild pain, but I certainly didn't disintegrate. I thought to myself *THIS is the dreaded death ray? That was nothing!"

I started walking away and the little girl couldn't seem to comprehend how I had survived her death ray completely uninjured while everyone else had died instantly. She followed after me, yelling at me, and can't remember what happened after that.

Combining this dream with certain events in my life, I interpreted it as having to do with my personal power and the way it is wielded. An immature child cannot wield such power to any beneficial extent because they do not possess the degree of awareness and discipline that would allow them to shape it from something raw into something useful. It takes a mature, aware adult to be able to calmly face such power and discern its wisest usage. I have heard the phrase over and over in my head: "The path of the apprentice ends. Take up now the path of the master." It is time for me to take responsibility for my own massive power and use it in the appropriate fashion.
