Very interesting! I think that might be the case here. The veil between the conscious and subconscious is thinner in the “in between” state of awake and asleep. And if we can retain a little conscious awareness we can observe it. Usually I experience this when I go to take a nap. Sometimes I’ll just be drifting in the middle of sleep and awake, rather than falling asleep.
