    A Prayer

I want to be ever a child
I want to feel an eternal friendship
    for the raindrops, the flowers,
    the insects, the snowflakes.
I want to be keenly interested in everything,
with mind and muscle ever alert,
forgetting my troubles in the next moment.
The stars and the sea, the ponds and the trees,
the birds and the animals, are my comrades.
Though my muscles may stiffen, though my skin may
wrinkle, may I never find myself yawning
    at life.

    The one law

    In spite of appearances,
    In reality
    The ocean of time, boundless,
    Stretches in all directions.
    Containing all seeming future,
    Present and past.
    All effects and causes too.
    It rests, uninterrupted
    United forever
    In the eternal now.
    What appears as
    Causes and effects,
    Ends and beginnings
    Is really inseparable.
    Therefore, regardless whatsoever
    Everything returns to the source
    Whence all originated.
    And this, my precious
    Is the one and only
    Ruthless and unbreakable
    Law.

    In truth, whatever you do
    Whenever and wherever -
    You do only
    To you.

There is so much potential for good in a collective humanity
A shift from competition to cooperation would heal our insanity

If we all just worked towards a single goal
A planet full of stewards that all feel whole

What is it we desire as a unified Earth?
What shall we manifest? What could we birth?

Every creature created equal...we have no dominion
The sun shines on us all with no judgment nor opinion

What is it going to take to bring us all together?
More quakes, more hurricanes, more deadly weather

Every shake and every tremor is a message from Gaia
Either learn to live as one people or sianara...good-bya

I know this may sound harsh but that's the way of the sword
The truth of love rests in giving, not in how much we can hoard

Give to one...give to all...let's start a tsunami of global caring
It would be a much brighter planet if more time was spent sharing

    peace,
    mikey

    PRAYER in APRIL

    Just this morning,
right as we clamored off to school,
in the driveway, the bird –
    that startled baby bird…
    He was so frightened he’d lost his voice;
his little, feathered head became more yellow
    with his quivering.

We three took turns holding him.

    The complicity of our awe
    is what strikes me now
and I hope I’ll always remember it:
how we dropped to our knees,
    how we took turns cradling him;
how, for a moment, when he flew,
    we lost our voices, too.

    Easter Exultet

    Shake out your qualms.
    Shake up your dreams.
    Deepen your roots.
    Extend your branches.
    Trust deep water
    and head for the open,
    even if your vision
    shipwrecks you.
    Quit your addiction
    to sneer and complain.
    Open a lookout.
    Dance on a brink.
    Run with your wildfire.
    You are closer to glory
    leaping an abyss
    than upholstering a rut.
    Not dawdling.
    Not doubting.
    Intrepid all the way
    Walk toward clarity.
    At every crossroad
    Be prepared
    to bump into wonder.
    Only love prevails.
    En route to disaster
    insist on canticles.
    Lift your ineffable
    out of the mundane.
    Nothing perishes;
    nothing survives;
    everything transforms!
    Honeymoon with Big Joy!

There is only ever the step you are now taking
There is only ever the choice you are now making

It matters not what has happened before
Now is your eternal shot for love to restore

Love is what it has always been about
For love is the flame that never goes out

Love is the infinite creator of our free will
Love is the utterly passive, the silent, the still

Love is the main ingredient of every choice
Love is the reason you exist and for that rejoice

You are indeed one with a most passionate love
The spark in your heart which carries you above

Any obstacle, any problem, any experience at all
Love is on your side...love is at your beck and call

This should deeply thrill you to be aware that you are
United with every plant, every animal, and every star

For the love that birthed you
    Birthed every other being too

Yes, we all have love in common
And it is to love we all say, "Amen"

    love,

    My God's a secular god:
he does not shut himself in convents
    that offer refuge from reality;
he does not wait for pious words
    or holy thoughts before he speaks to me;
he does not wait till the endtime
    to reveal himself to me.

    My God's a secular god:
he walks the city streets and bends
his back with me at work.
He taps me on the shoulder
    and argues with me endlessly
    over beer or coffee.

When I'm absorbed in other things,
he will not let me have the last word.
In all this pain and suffering,
    this world's godlessness,
    my own heart's emptiness,
    he shows himself at work,
    bearing what I cannot bear,
    bearing even me.

    My God's a secular god.
    For he is really Lord,
not only of the age to come
    but of this present age.

    A godless age this? Well,
    my God's a godless God.

One of my favorites by Mahlon H. Smith - more here http://virtualreligion.net/poems/index.html

Its interesting to note that Mahlon H. Smith is part of a group of biblical scholars who call themselves “The Jesus Seminar Forum”…part of what they do is re-interpret the writings about Jesus from the original greek. Its an extremely interesting discourse on the historical Jesus as opposed to the mythical Jesus. Needless to say, the findings and writings of this group of learned scholars are considered radical, if not outright heretical, by many more mainstream scholars. If you are interested in other viewpoints, check it out here

Thanks for the link, Richard. I don't have any real resonance with the King James version of the Bible, never have. It's too choppy and it seems there is much left out of the writings. I would like to find a version of Jesus' life and words translated from the original Aramaic, but that's not possible, so the original Greek will have to suffice.

    Love Letters

Every day, priests minutely examine the Law
    And endlessly chant complicated sutras.
Before doing that, though, they should learn
How to read the love letters sent by the wind
and rain, the snow and moon.

    The Heart accepts without limitations,
it is open to all things,
    the small and the great,
    the king and the beggar,
    the bad and the good,
    the precious pearl
and the insignificant pebble on the beach,
the tiny acorn and great oak tree,
    the dancer and the dance,
    the visible and the invisible,
    the lover and The Beloved.

    The Heart does not differentiate,
    it does not take sides,
    it does not see opposites,
    it sees no separation,
it is One with all things,
it embraces all things as One,
    there are not many hearts,
    there is only One Heart
and that One Heart is the heart
that dwells within your own breast.

    Look

This little finger covers the eye
    and prevents the whole world
    from being seen.

    In the same way
this small mind covers the whole universe
and prevents Reality from being seen.

    The way I see it,
    there's no need
    for anything special,
    just act ordinary.

    The Journey

    One day you finally knew
what you had to do, and began,
    though the voices around you
    kept shouting
    their bad advice --
    though the whole house
    began to tremble
and you felt the old tug
    at your ankles.
    "Mend my life!"
    each voice cried.
    But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do,
    though the wind pried
    with its stiff fingers
    at the very foundations,
    though their melancholy
    was terrible.
    It was already late
    enough, and a wild night,
and the road full of fallen
    branches and stones.
    But little by little,
as you left their voices behind,
    the stars began to burn
    through the sheets of clouds,
and there was a new voice
    which you slowly
    recognized as your own,
    that kept you company
as you strode deeper and deeper
    into the world,
    determined to do
the only thing you could do --
    determined to save
the only life you could save.

    Matins

    II (excerpt)

    I arise today

    Blessed by all things,
    Wings of breath,
    Delight of eyes,
    Wonder of whisper,
    Intimacy of touch,
    Eternity of soul,
    Urgency of thought,
    Miracle of health,
    Embrace of God.

    May I live this day.

You want to think like the slow, flowing river. I move to meet you there.

You want to think like the flitting, fragile bird. I shift to meet you there.

You want to think like the frigid and unmoving mountains. I rise to meet you there.

You want to think like the expansive and passive sea. I am already there.

Each thinker explores their own way. From each fertile world blooms different blossoms.

Now, there is no moving of mind. No shifting, no rising, I realize I am already there to meet you. I think like the galaxy. I am the gardener.

I'd love to travel the world... There's so much of this planet that I've never even seen! To see the aurora borealis would be awesome.

I don't know about cultivating it; but I can cultivate the path! Tongue (and apparently some nasty intestinal bacteria too... uggh!) lol

What else is on your bucket list? Send me a PM so as not to derail the thread. Or of course, we could talk in poetry. BigSmile

Who doth stand there and hope to judge me in the light of his crown,
You are not worthy I say,
I have walked the seas and oceans and I have found death,
Because he who seeks good finds evil as well,
He who seeks good finds all things.

We are all alone... together! haha

Did you use a brush to make that? The smudges give it a very unique look. I like the flower. I think it captures what the poem is about.

    -String Theory-

What we know as our reality
    is purely a function
    of our consciousness as human
    inhabitants of earth.

Beginning and end, birth and death,
    linear time and distance-
these are all necessities to survival
    in this incarnation,

    -we are de-tuned-
in order to pursue the activities necessary
    for sustenance
in the confines of three dimensions.

    As a developing dimensional race
    our eternal incarnations entered into
    the soul construct
    under which mankind has toiled,
    chasing our tail,

    searching for enlightenment and truth-
    all the while not knowing
    that the duality

    which is our existence

adheres to extremely strict laws of equilibrium-
the pursuit of a thing creates opposition to it,
    the opposition of a thing,
    strengthens the very object opposed-

The soul construct was entered into for reasons
    not yet known to us;

There exists among those that accept
    the existence of the construct,
    several differing ideas
as to its origin and original purpose.

The great religions of the world
    all teach some version
    of the basic construct-
it is the core of religion.

    The subject too vast,
    to address this page hereon;
    but we are absolutely not
    a lone phenonemon;

    dimensions exist simultaneously
    and occupy
    what in our reality
would be the same place and time.

Of hundreds of thousands of dimensions
    much like ours
which can be ’seen’ from our vantage point,
earth is the only one that destroys itself-

inhabitants of earth are not welcome
    in other dimensions,
    and coincidentally,
we don’t know how to get there

Picture that human history is like a string
    on a quantum bass violin-
    there existed an original intention
    which plucked that string-

in that instant the original singularity
of the string at rest was disturbed,
    the duality was created,
for billions of years we have been riding
    the oscillation of that string.

    The tone of the string,
the note or the vibrational frequency
is a manifestation of the string
    at rest
    and through a vibrational cycle
    back to rest again-

the note the string makes to our ears-
is the same wether the string
    is at its loudest
or too soft to scarecely hear

    The dynamics
    of the strings physical properties
in the configuration in which it is strung,
    dictate it’s frequency, or note,

    but the string oscillation varies-
with what we perceive as volume

    The oscillations
    are iterations
    of the frequency.

    So here we are-
all the people that ever have walked the planet-
hanging on to this mortal string
    as it goes bloinggggggggggggggggggggggggggggg

for billions of what we call years,
at first the cycles are long, and slower,
The periods of resonance are lengthy
    As are those of discord

    Through this dualistic spiraling synchronicity
    the human race moves furthur;
this journeys end nearly in sight
    The point of zero oscillation,
    resonant, at last, our home.

As the sound we would hear
if this string our senses avail,
    grows fainter and vibrates softer

    the frequency must complete
    in chosen note replete,
    ever more rapid cycles;

    parallel loops of decreasing size-
    and increasing density.

Even in this lies a paradoxical conundrum,
    the signature of our race,

As the violent nature of the vibration smooths-
    the frequency at which we,
as indentured inhabitants of our string,
    must repeat our history,

    gets faster, faster,
    and faster….
    until,

    the string returns to rest.

As we traverse the same wave over ,
what is refracted at any particular point,
    at every point,
contributes to the resonance of the note-

    imagine a magnificent light being,
turning the knobs on a cosmic sitar
trying to tune the pitch of the frequency,
    the elusive harmony we desire,

that magnificent light being of visions,
    is our collective source,
it is us and we are it-
and it(we) are a part of another light entity,

just as we are part of it
    and we consist of it,
    and all of us together,
    our dimensional tribe,

    exists as one singular thing,
in a system of infinite other
    singular things,

    Resonating harmoniously
    as an organic,
    cosmic whole system,

    within systems, of systems….
    expanding,
    replicating
    creating

Hi mikey, I like the idea of freely giving samples of inner light. This is a nice poem. Heart
Hi crystl, That's an interesting poem. I am interested in the harmonics of the universe with all the strings vibrating in harmony and I think your poem illustrates that well. I'm not very literate in the theory, though, and had to read your poem a few times before it began to resonate. Are we earthlings really not welcome in other dimensions?
