How can I open the inner sanctuary so that I can feel love in my heart?

During my childhood, my inner heart chakra became essentially completely closed. At this point, I have no problems with receiving and expressing love, but it is difficult for me to truly feel it. I do everything I can to give love to everyone around me, but I don't really feel anything.

I am using rose quartz and meditation. I have called upon my teachers - those of Q'uo, my guides, higher self, angels, and Christ to flood my heart with unconditional love.

I am wondering if anyone could help me in this effort.

I can't help but I can say I am pretty much the same. I can love anyone but won't be feeling much out of it just as I can love myself but won't feel much about it either.

I've opened the inner sanctuary with the use of drugs, but it simply gives a window unto it so it ends up closing up again. Kinda a way to bypass the blockages to see what it is that you can work toward but doesn't necessarily give clues on the blocages.

Meditation is probably the only way to go.

Yes, I would look to the blockages - what in your childhood caused your inner heart to become closed? Have you forgiven those who have hurt you? Have you forgiven yourself? Do you feel worthy to feel love?

Do you have trouble empathizing with others?
When I watch sad movies, I can tear up. My heart feels tender then.

So maybe watch a few sad movies. I'm sure you can search the web for lists of them.
And see if you can empathize.

Or read some inspirational books like Chicken Soup for the Soul (I haven't read it myself but it is highly rated).

I might look to why you feel you are supposed to or desire to express love while not even feeling it. Is that really love?

I would maybe build an inner sanctuary through a visualization. What is a place that makes you feel peaceful and connected? What elements or symbols help you feel? Build a space in your mind which is a reflection of your love and your passions and spend time dwelling there.

It has become apparent to me in the last short period of time that I am still harboring hatred towards the Christian religion. I still feel betrayed and abandoned by the Christian God and Jesus. I still look upon Christians as insane hypocrites. I need to develop compassion for these.

It is as though I once had burning coals in my heart, and perhaps they were put out, but they are still coal. I need to examine every situation that sparks a thought of hate. Perhaps day by day, if I work at it, the wall will come down.

Well if your heart has coal give it some pressure and make diamonds!

I had to use the technique given by Ra for balancing. I used to call.upon the feelings of unconditional love I felt for my son at the time.

Sometimes you need to find something or someone to feel love towards first. Do you love little things? Like your home? Or bed? Or a meal or relaxing? Certain clothes? Colors or such?

Use that love and go from there. Love is Love.

Thank you for your advice. I reached a similar conclusion in my meditation just now.

    We all develop tools for coping with reality and staying centered in stressful situations... Here is a tool I really like;

I remind my self that I am meditating and ask self; what am I when I am not distracted?

I follow the point of that question, use it as a slow mantra for direction if needed, and return to the foundation of gratefulness, love and peace... Well that´s how I use this tool, don´t expect a house to be built just cuz someone hands you a hammer =)

    What tools do you use?

As to the tools I use, I am learning more every day. I have tried some chants, and that helps. I will probably do some more tonight. I visualize myself surrounded with white light. I pay attention to the breath, and try to breathe in prana and love from the Creator. I ask my teachers to guide me into the place of stillness where I can experience the presence of the Creator. Also, I am using rose quartz and emerald quartz in order to help the heart chakra while listening to music designed to open it.

When I breathe in prana from Creator, I find it within, rather than without.

puppies and kittens. Innocent adorable things may help you open your heart.

If I may ask, what is your history with the Christian God and Jesus that led to the bitterness you feel?

In my opinion. Not to uninspire you, but it takes years of dedicated/focused 'work' to even begin to open the heart. The work is going through your memories, and finding wounds and healing them. It's being present in the now moment. It's understanding who is behind all eyes, the one who feels all things. Years of dedicated energy/emotional work. Of choosing to go the higher road, and ever more growing past the small ego. Of looking at the sacramental nature of every moment and all things.

If one has hurt others in the past, would it be necessary to go to them and ask for forgiveness?

In my small opinion it would indeed help. The more ingrained or apart of your day to day experience the person is, the more likely it would help. Especially if interactions are strained due to the wound inflicted. However it is not at all nessecary for you to apologize directly to them. They are free to forgive at any moment, and begin the healing process as well. With no initiator from you. See emotional/energetic wounds are from a projected impact on the woundees side. If a balanced entity were to encounter the same situation, they wouldn't have been wounded. It all comes back to how we are configured, and where/how we see the world.

I also am not placing fault/blame on either party, due to there only being one. One is beyond fault, not through self-righteousness, but due to there literally only being One.

Use the wisdom of The One, there being only one, as a tool for discernment.
