    - All that hurt and pain, she said at last. But... but...

    - But what?

    - But beautiful.

"Ayler's sax in particular becomes the voice of a Rilkean angel: simultaneously beautiful and terrifying. ...
This is the haunting question: when is even music inadequate to the task of surrounding human experience with meaning? Because here at John Coltrane's funeral, music a whole, always transcendent, verges on inadequacy, dissolving under the sense of an Ultimate Tragic realization: human being is not merely irrelevant to the gods, it is an unwelcome presence. The pressure of this active negation-- call it malign fate or doom-- is what resists the expected outward expansion of the music into the transcendent and pierces into the listener on the most primal ontological level. It is harrowing and unbearable. ... There is meaning. But it is an alien, strange and monstrous creature. If we were able to endure even a syllable of its language, I believe it might sound something like Albert Ayler.

Quote:- All that hurt and pain, she said at last. But... but...
    - But what?
    - But beautiful
    .

A Beautiful Lie. But beautiful... nonetheless."

I've enjoyed this song for many years; it's one of the few songs that never really get old to me. I know it's a cover of a Police song, but I really enjoy the Alanis Morissette version.

I never bothered to look up the lyrics because I could easily understand most of them just by listening. I wanted to hear what the backup singers were saying so I looked up to lyrics finally. I was very moved emotionally because I find it to be beautiful poetry. The whole song is great, but I bolded the part I am referring to:

Alanis Morissette - King of Pain Wrote:There's a little black spot on the sun today
It's the same old thing as yesterday
There's a black hat caught in a high tree top
    There's a flag-pole rag and the wind won't stop

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain

There's a fossil that's trapped in a high cliff wall
    {That's my soul up there}
There's a dead salmon frozen in a waterfall
    {That's my soul up there}
    There's a blue whale beached by a springtime's ebb
    {That's my soul up there}

    There's a butterfly trapped in a spider's web

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the king of pain

And there's a king on a throne with his eyes torn out
There's a blind man looking for a shadow of doubt
There's a rich man sleeping on a golden bed
There's a skeleton choking on a crust of bread

    There's a red fox torn by a huntsman's pack
    There's a black-winged gull with a broken back
There's a little black spot on the sun today
It's the same old thing as yesterday

I have stood here before inside the pouring rain
With the world turning circles running 'round my brain
I guess I'm always hoping that you'll end this reign
But it's my destiny to be the queen of pain

    Queen of pain
I'll always be queen of pain
I'll always be queen of pain

This song has come to represent to me the general mission of Wanders (and 3D graduates) here on Earth.

Moby - We Are All Made Of Stars Wrote:Growing in numbers
    Growing in speed
    Can't fight the future
    Can't fight what I see

    People they come together
    People they fall apart
No one can stop us now
'Cause we are all made of stars

    Efforts of lovers
    Left in my mind
    I sing in the reaches
    We'll see what we find

    People they come together
    People they fall apart
No one can stop us now
'Cause we are all made of stars

    Slow slow slow, come come
    Someone come come come
    Even love is goin' 'round
You can't ignore what is goin' 'round

    Slowly rebuilding
    I feel it in me
    Growing in numbers
    Growing in peace

“Music is the brandy of the damned.” - Don Juan, in George Bernard Shaw's play Man and Superman (1903)

"We live in a very special time right now. At no other time in history has there been such mass disillusionment in terms of reliance on governing functions. Most people don’t want to come to terms with that. It’s been proven over and over again that the emperor isn’t wearing any clothes, but most people don’t like to look at naked emperors. In the process of turning around to avert their eyes, they saw the discotheques and a few other things and latched onto them."

"Everything on this planet has something to do with music. Music functions in the realm of sculptured air. Polluted as our atmosphere might be, air is the thing that makes music work. Since all other things that occur in the sound domain are transmitted to the ear through that swirling mass, depending on how wide you want to make your definition, you could perceive quite a bit of human experience in terms of music."

"Most people don’t think I’m rational. They’re too busy featuring their hurt. They find it irrational not to feature your hurt. That’s how f***** up they are."
-- Frank Zappa, "A Conversation with Frank Zappa" by Dave Rothman, in Oui (April 1979)

[Interesting... I have just found out that the posting input interface automatically censors the effing f-word IF it's within quote marks; but not otherf'ingwise. Très logique, mais Dieu seul sait comment. See, I could say you-know-what here, for instance, but I won't-- to spare everybody's f-----g virgin sensibilities, don't you know. Mighty noble of me, if I do say myself! Mais ç'est juste moi partout-- très délicat, raffiné, et sévèrement correct en tout temps dans toutes les situations. Un grand adepte spirituel, évidemment. Alors. Grokkez-vous, mes frères d'eau? https://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Grok Santé!]

Smile Hey all, I'm the newbie here. And at this very moment, I am listening to Nightwish. A symphonic band from Finland whose music ranges from heavy, to beautiful ballads, and lots of stuff in between.
