Does anyone have any good book recommendations on Astrology?  It seems most of the books I've found have been pretty shallow and not really getting to the archetypal basis of what astrology really is.

I have been reading Aleister Crowley's The General Principles of Astrology which is very good.  Is there any others that anyone else recommends?

    Yes.

My absolute favorite Astrology text is called The Archetypal Universe by Renn Butler. It is essentially an archetypal cookbook, and in that sense it is a reference book too.

The first part goes over all the planetary pairs and how their archetypal energies co-mingle with each other. Soooo.... Mercury-Pluto, Uranus-Mars, Sun-Venus, etc. Butler goes deep on each pair, highlighting the archetypal energies, dream images, shadow sides, etc.

Then at the end of the book, he covers planetary triads, so.... Mercury-Sun-Uranus, stuff like that.

I use this book a lot in my study/practice of astrology. I like how it's not really imbued with any one tradition. In that sense it really gets to the essence of what I feel astrology is all about, which is the archetypes.

Apart from Renn's book, I love Robert Hand's Horoscope Symbols (a bit denser than what I'm used to but I like his writing style) and Steven Forrest's the Inner Sky is a classic introduction.

I got the book recommended from MrAstrotheology Youtube Channel Go to his older videos from 11 years ago. You will be blown away by his teachings.

There is also "Moonology" by Yasmin Boland. I wouldn't buy the book because it's basically a diary. It goes over intentions based on different cycles of the moon. You get your free horoscope chart by going here https://moonology.astrostore.net/free/fr...scopechart

Quote:Each New Moon and Full Moon triggers a part of your astrological chart called a House. A simple way to make predictions is to work out which House the New or Full Moon is triggering in your chart. All you need to know is your Star Sign or your Rising Sign. Your Star sign is good for a quick fix - what you read regarding the House your Star sign triggers should resonate with you. However, your Rising sign is based on your time, date and place of birth, so the House triggered by your Rising sign each month will be much more accurate in terms of what to focus on.

"Moonology: Diary 2020" by Yasmin Boland

Your choice to buy the diary or I can give you the following for free which is all you really need from the book.

Quote:A Quick Guide to the Houses

The 1st House: your appearance and image; self-identity; how you come across to others

The 2nd House: money, property and possessions; values, including how you value yourself

The 3rd House: communications; siblings; neighbors; quick trips; early learning and education

The 4th House: home and family, all things domestic; where you belong; your past

The 5th House: romance; creativity; kids (your own or someone else's); pursuit of pleasure; love affairs

The 6th House: daily routines, including at your work; your health; duty

The 7th House: your lovers; your spouse; your ex; enemies; any sort of partner, including business partners; cooperation and competition

The 8th House: joint finances; credit cards; debts; sex; anything you consider taboo; inheritance; transformation

The 9th House: study; travel; the Great Cosmic Quest; the Internet; higher learning; religion; teaching, spirituality

The 10th House: your career and ambitions; how you make your mark on the world; what you're known for; your reputation

The 11th House: friends; networks; social circles; hopes and wishes

The 12th House: your fears; your spirituality; dreams; self-undoing; withdrawal; secret or hidden enemies. This is the deepest, darkest, most sensitive part of your chart.

I use this website to figure out which House the New and Full Moons are in. Remember to change the month and year when using.

I will use the New Moon in Aries that is on April 1, 2022 to show you how to use the Guide to the Houses as mentioned above. Refer to the image of the Zodiacs. Don't pay attention to the numbers, this will just confuse you. My Star sign is Pisces and my Rising (ascendant) sign is Taurus. Begin with the New or Full Moon. In this case we begin in Aries and count counterclockwise. So for this New Moon phase my 2nd House is Pisces and 12th House is in Taurus. New and Full Moon phases are typically 15 days so for the next 2 weeks my life will revolve around the 2nd House and the 12th House.

The next phase is a Full Moon in Libra. So I begin at Libra and again count counterclockwise beginning with Libra. Beginning April 16, my Star sign will be in the 8th House and my Rising sign will be in the 6th House.

Working with the houses is a close prediction of things to come in your future. It is not exact because the topics are general and not specific. For example, the 3rd House mentions neighbors. Does this refer to neighbors you are aware of or will observe? When this House came up in the past year, my teenage female neighbor from across the street who I have never met personally broke out in tears. The police arrived to counsel her. My next door neighbor went out to see what the problem was but then realized he couldn't help. I think the teenage girl was crying because of a break-up but I only observed this from the comfort of my home. I never found out what the problem was really about. So when working with the Houses think about whether this is something that will happen to you personally or something you will observe.

Thank you - this is incredibly informative!  I have subscribed to MrAstrology and am excited to learn more from his videos.
